Simply excellent.

Just started the weekend by consuming four drams of The Macallan single-malt 15 year old. Mighty fine. Now to load the buggy for a trip to the steakhouse.

Home for a week ( I’ve got pneumonia ). Decided to have a few drams. I had a bottle of Laphroaig with about an oz and 1/2 left in it. It was probably sitting there for 2months. Anyway, it was HORRIBLE. I read that you shouldn’t let a bottle sit like that with less than half a bottle. It didnt even taste like Laphroaig. Went to my trusty bottle of JWB and it was perfect. Gonna have to go buy a fresh bottle of Laphroaig. Cheers

2 months should not have any ill effect. 2 years, maybe, but not 2 months.

And I don’t think it should make it taste any different, just a weaker version of what it once was. Less flavor, less bite, etc.

I think your wife is poisoning your stash.

It was weird. I did not taste peat like I like so much. The JWB tasted the exact same…your right though maybe I’ll put a lock on my liquor cabinet.

Tried this for the first time last weekend, and is now one of my favourites

Sweet and smooth, so much so that the current Miss Diddy, who hates whisky, actually liked it.

A bagpiper actually came into the bar and started playing as I was drinking, too.

Well I’m from south of the border, but spent more of my adult life up here. I’ve worn a kilt though.

My go to Scotch would be Talisker, most places have it and it never disappoints.

Ardbeg 10 is a really good peaty whisky, with a lot going on behind the peat (fruits, etc.).

I like Strathisla 12 as well, and the Scapa 16 I posted is def a new favourite.

For Christmas, a friend got me a bottle of this: http://estore.kilchomandistillery.com/updates-from-the-team/launch-loch-gorm

I must be a really good friend, ha! Without a doubt the best whisky I’ve ever tasted. Aged in sherry barrels and with a delicious sweet and spicy taste, almost like gingerbread.

If I had a bottle of each of those in the house I’d have all my whisky needs covered, I think.

Talisker and Laphroaig are my favorites. That bottle in your link just looks badass. Cheers

I might have mentioned this before but those looking for an everyday value Scotch, Bowmore makes a whisky called Legends. It’s a little sweet but it does have some peat. It was 24US so I bought 2. Damn fine whisky for the price. Bought a bottle of Laphroaig while I was there since I was all out of whisky.

Sorry here’s the pick

Interesting timing. I’ve been meaning to drop back in here and mention this one. I gave it a shot maybe a month ago and I just didn’t like it at all. It seemed very smokey and grassy, very heavy and dense flavor, almost like I could chew it. I guess that’s the peat? Maybe I’m not a Scotch guy.

My local shop recently expanded their whiskey section with another full shelf. I noticed Four Roses, Whistlepig, some Hudson Bay, and a few others. Gonna be a nice summer.

If you like Ryes, that Whistlepig is the best Rye I’ve had.

The Hudson whiskey, if you’re referring to the little half bottles that retail for $50, are grossly overpriced. I’ve had a couple of them and been really disappointed.

Good info, thanks. I remember seeing a few guys here mention the Whistlepig.

And yeah, that’s what I was worried about with the Hudson. Felt hard to justify the price:size. They have a 375ml Hudson Baby Bourbon for $52 or $56 (I forget which), but gut instinct said the odds are it isn’t worth it, even for a splurge.

Latest acquisitions. The George Dickel is a special edition 14 year. Probably won’t open that for a while.

The other is John Bowman Virginia Bourbon.

Had some Bowmore and a montecristo white label #3 tonight. Don’t know a lot about pairing whisky and cigars but it was niiiiice! Got an early Father’s Day present a big bottle of Johnny Walker black. Life’s good.

Absolutely fantastic. The bottle I have is 114.3 proof according to the label, but it’s so good that when drinking it neat you can’t really tell. It’s definitely my new favourite.
