What's Your Favorite Whiskey?

So, off the back of the favourite cigar thread, I’d like to add a whisky/whiskey appreciation thread.

For anyone who doesn’t know the difference, whisky is from Scotland, whiskey is from Ireland!

Now my taste in cigars may be cheap, but my taste in whisky is a little more expensive.

I really enjoy Islay single malts - especially - and at around £450 per bottle quite rarely, Laphroaig 30 Year old.

So how about everyone else?

Seriously, it’s that good. If you haven’t tried it (not necessarily the 30 year old) go and get some now.

LMAO - Did I end my own thread that quick?

You are right though - Even the standard 10yr old stuff is fantastic. Just add the smallest drop of water to bring out the real smoky flavour and drink at room temperature preferably in front of an open fire* and … well it’s just got to be tried.

If you can get hold of the cask strength version - wow.

*Especially with a flame haired Scottish T-Vixen sat on your lap.

I’ll keep it going dude.

I said Jack Daniels was but I forgot Jagermeister’s a whisky too. Had a few shots of Jim Beam last night and it was really smooth. Obviously I’m no connoisseur of fine whisky. Those are the best ones I’ve tried and I’ve tried a few (cheap brands). As long as it doesn’t come in a plastic bottle.

i like almost all whiskies for one reason or another. that said i am partial, like the op, to islay when it comes to scotch. check out bruichladdich if you haven’t already. privately owned, no corporate shite, pure whisky from islay… mmmmmmmmm. oh and btw jagermeister is not whisky, it’s liqueur.

My favourites are Oban and Cragganmore (sp)

Men drink bourbon.

I’ll second the cask strengh Laphroaig. I even hide the bottle when we have guests staying. The Bushmill’s malt is good enough for them,(and definitely for me too).

TQB

PS. Real men eat bonbons, and then they grow up…DS.

I’ll play:

I went through a scotch phase but am in a tequila phase now.

Most unique scotch I’ve had was a Lagavulin 12 (yes, 12 and not the more common 16). It was awesome.

Talisker 10

Oban 14 - liked it once at a steakhouse, didn’t like it the second time I tried it

Glenmorangie 12 portwood, have had the 18 as well

Johnnie Green is one HELLUVA bargain.

Current favorite?

Caol Ila 18, nice and peppery, woody. HIGHLY recommended with a nice smoke.

I need to get my hands on some of that Irish Middleton…

Jim Beam is an old favorite. I’m really warming up to Canadian Mist(very smooth) and Bailey’s.

Suntory (Japanese) special reserve. Shit is so expensive they have to order it with several years of reservation.

Suntory time!

I’m far from a conesuer but I do like Jim Beam Black.

No Knob Creek drinkers? Mmmmm. Maker’s Mark when money is tight.

Mmmm - Lagavulin - another great Islay distilery.

I’ve not had a bottle of Caol Ila for a few years - last one was a Christmas present.

I did have some really bad Thai whisky once out of a plastic bottle. I got my eyesight back about 12 hours later.

My favourite whiskey is Whiskey A Gogo. The Torontonians in the crowd know what I’m talking about.

Can’t stand Maker’s Mark - over priced kerosene. LOVE Knob Creek.

My favorite is Woodford Reserve.

Hmmm I love Whiskey and Bourbon so:

Knob Creek
Gentle Jack Daniels
The Black Label Jim Beam
Crown Royal Reserve
Green Label Jonnie Walker

By the way if you like whiskey you might like the Jose C. Black. To me is tastes like whiskey with a tequila after taste.
