Whiskey!

My Costco has an interesting kit. Age Your Own Whiskey. The kit comes with white whiskey and a couple of small barrels, I think oak. You pour the distilled whiskey in a barrel and age it for however long you want. I would be inclined to just buy whiskey I like, or if I got into it, distilling my own and getting bigger barrels to age in. I do think the idea is cool though. Especially for a gift idea.
How much can you age it in 10 minutes? That’s how long I’d last.

That’s a neat idea, putting whiskey on the wall for easy pouring.
And it’s gonna make a neat coat rack afterwards.

24 and 19. Technically stepkiddos. Technically-technically almost stepkiddos. I’ve been with their mom since they were in grade school, but have yet to make an honest woman out of her. Workin’ on it.

Definitely sounds prettty cool, and could probably do like we were all talking about a few pages back. Set it up/fill it, toss it in the backyard exposed to the elements, and see what happens.

My last Christmas present before flying back to alcohol-free Kuwait was a bottle of Eagle Rare 10-yo, also from Buffalo Trace.

Delicious and very, very drinkable.

That’s what I’ve been drinking lately too.

Although you may not agree with the ratings, this is a cool website to check out whiskeys you may never have heard of. http://whiskey.findthebest.com/

Stocked up on some liquid gold today.
A big bottle of JWB and a bottle of Bowmore Legends. The Bowmore was on sale for 24 US. I was looking for a dram to bridge the gap between Talisker and Laphroiag. It does that perfectly. It’s like a Laphroaig light. I read somewhere that it was discontinued…I hope not. A good Islay single malt for 24. Makes me wonder how good Bowmore 12 is.

Edit: my store had 2 bottles of this I’m gonna go back and buy the other one. amazing peaty whisky!!!

My store had Redbreast 12. I remember that was one of your faves. Only thing is that I hated Jameson so how much different is Redbreast. It’s pricey so I held back.

Redbreast is totally different than Jameson and in my opinion the 12 yr is the best Irish whiskey out there. I haven’t had the cask strength.

I like Bourbon ( Buffalo Trace and Woodford ) and I love Scotch ( Talisker… Glenlivet… Johnny Walker black… glenmorangie… And recently Bowmore )
I feel like I haven’t gave Irish a fair shake. I tried Jameson and it smelled and tasted like glue to me. Hard for me to throw down 60 bucks for something I don’t know about. ( although I did it for Talisker and that turned out great )

Anyone had Blantons bourbon? I had some on the rocks the other night and it’s my favorite bourbon so far. Granted, I’d hardly call myself well versed in whiskey, but I loved it.

We also drank Goose Island bourbon county stout that night, too. While that’s a beer, it’s a 15% alcohol bourbon flavored delicious beer, so I figured it’d be worth mentioning.

As promised I went to the store and picked up the other bottle of Bowmore legends. What a great value for a Islay single malt. It was actually 25 not 24 but 30 seems to be the average price for this whisky. I read somewhere that it was discontinued but I can’t find anything now. It did however change bottle design maybe that’s what I read? After these 2 bottles I hope I’m ready for the Laphroaig in my cupboard. Cheers

I’ve had a couple bottles of it and have a couple more unopened. It’s really good. I wouldn’t put it among my favorites but I always seem to have a bottle on hand.

For a better value ($30/bottle) and honestly, IMO, a better whiskey, try Elmer T. Lee (sounding like a broken record as I’ve recommended it a few times in this thread). Angel’s Envy, Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve also come to mind as they are all on the sweeter side like Blanton’s.
