I don’t get all the love for Woodford. I bought a bottle, drank it and liked it but can’t say it really stood out. I think the 14 dollar stuff I got at Trader Joe’s is probably better. I’d really like to taste test some of you folks to find out if woodford really is preferred or if it has just developed a good rep.

Learn to drink it neat and you will learn to love whiskey the way it was meant to be loved.
And how is whiskey meant to be loved?
By having a lot of it.
Laphroig and cragganmore is the goods! Got a bottle waiting for the end of the year exams to finish in a few weeks ![]()

I see Laphroaig mentioned all the time, I absolutely can’t stand the stuff. I’ve had a bottle for 3 years or so and I’ve only taken a couple glasses from it, once when I bought it, once about a month ago to try and revisit. Too smoky or something. I couldn’t even finish my pour.
To each their own, my friend. If you were close by I’d give you my bottle.
Thanks to this thread, I have started migrating towards bourbon - and must say, I’m really enjoying it. So far I’ve enjoyed Maker’s Mark, Gentleman Jack and Jim Beam 6yo. I plan to pick up a bottle of Woodford Reserve on the way home at Christmas, as well as a bottle of Bulleit from a fantastic shop I found in Belfast. I’ll probably pick up a bottle of Glenmorangie 25yo as well, if Dubai duty-free still have their special offer on.
On another note, my wife flew out to see me (in Kuwait) yesterday - texted me to let me know that she was in the lounge and instead of going for the white wine, she was [really] enjoying a glass of Woodford Reserve. I am so proud of her right now.

That’s awesome. Did they call security when you started drinking it from the barrels?

I still havn’t tried Maker’s or any other “wheated” whiskey yet. My wife and the neighbor’s wife now like Woodford and I havn’t decided if that’s a good thing.
Cool pictures, push.

Haven’t posted on this site in a long time, but this is good stuff. Whitmeyer’s Single Barrel Cask Strength (112 proof). Neat or with a little water, either way it’s delicious. They are a Houston based distillery, so I’m not sure of their large scale distribution but if you can find it, it’s worth the price.

The distiller was a great guy. Super friendly and informative.
He’s trying to get me to come back in a few months and take a week long distilling course that he teaches right there at the facility. It’s $1345. Thinking of doing it.
If you have the money and the time, go for it.

Wow, that sounds expensive but it’s really dirt cheap compared to everything I found on line just now. I’d love to do that course.

I’ve been working on a bottle of the Buffalo Trace that a lot of people mentioned, but I’m just not digging it. It’s a weird muddled taste: kinda smokey but not really, kinda sweet but not really, and kinda burning but not really. It’s a palate confuser.
My local liquor store just got a whole bunch of white whiskey in. Jim Beam, JD, and two or three others I can’t remember. Anyone have thoughts, experiences, or opinions on white whiskeys?
Thank you I tried a few at a bar one night, and had the same problem
Its not bad over Coke Zero though

I bought a bottle recently to take to my cabin. Didn’t care for it at all really. Fortunately I had alternatives in the bar.
