The distiller was a great guy. Super friendly and informative.
He’s trying to get me to come back in a few months and take a week long distilling course that he teaches right there at the facility. It’s $1345. Thinking of doing it.
Wow, that sounds expensive but it’s really dirt cheap compared to everything I found on line just now. I’d love to do that course.
Come do it with me. Price drops to $1200 each if you bring a buddy.
There’s a course next month which I simply cannot do and then one in March.
I would really like to but it’s not very likely. I’m not paying for it myself and it would be kind of a hard sale to my company. The owner I report to might let me do it but his sister would flip out for sure. Also March is kinda tough for me because I’m already taking a week long vacation in March.

Laphroig and cragganmore is the goods! Got a bottle waiting for the end of the year exams to finish in a few weeks :D
I see Laphroaig mentioned all the time, I absolutely can’t stand the stuff. I’ve had a bottle for 3 years or so and I’ve only taken a couple glasses from it, once when I bought it, once about a month ago to try and revisit. Too smoky or something. I couldn’t even finish my pour.
To each their own, my friend. If you were close by I’d give you my bottle.
I bought Laprhroaig as a blind buy because I’d heard such good things about it and yeah…I thought for a minute that soomething had gone wrong with the stuff. I found out that that’s the way Islays taste but I still gave the bottle away.
Two month later my girlfriend brought me a liter bottle of the quarter-cask and I had to keep my mouth shut. So I drank some and after a few different days trying it it did start to grow on me…but I can understand if you never want to touch Laphroaig again.
I’d love to give Laphroaig to someone as their first taste of whiskey. ha!
Drinking a Four Roses Small Batch and smoking a 601 Habano, and life is good. ![]()

I’ll give this a try. I like the Woodford and to a lesser extent the Knob but I am to the point where I’m chasing that kick of which you speak.
Be sure and post your opinion as soon as you give the Eagle Rare a taste!

Drinking some of this right now at Lounge 5280 at the Denver airport and it is very, very, very good. Got to shop around and see if I can find a bottle to take home.
Wow. Seriously.

I read somewhere ( Men’s health I think ) that this whiskey is made from single malt barley ( like Scotch ) and then aged like Bourbon. Maybe the best of both worlds?
Lately, I can't get enough of the Glenlivet 12. For some reason I'm starting to like it better than some of my Bourbons. Getting ready to move up the peat scale though. Birthday is coming soon asking for a Xbox one and a bottle of Talisker. Cheers!

Almost bought this instead of the Four Roses. Will give this a go next time.
Which one? Four Roses has been on my list for a while. I’ll probably pick up a small batch bottle to start with one of these days.

The smokey peat flavour is what i love about it, it just seems to marry the whiskey so well and i have had a patron, which had the same smokey flavour and was amazing, though a clean whiskey like glenfiddich can’t be denined.

Glen 12 smells and tastes like pears to me awesome…although I’m looking to move up to something peatier and smokey like Talisker. Alas, I drank all my Glenlivet 12. I think I’m gonna finish up the bottle of Bulliet I have before I make another purchase.( I’m kinda OCD about finishing things.) I really like the rye kick that Bulliet gives at the end. BTW Talisker is 66.00 US at my store, probable for a birthday present though but damn expensive!

Ha! Or the chances of us seeing a bottle went way up if we’re willing to pay the black market premium! ![]()

How does Glenlivet 12 compare to Glenfiddich 12? Or I guess in general how do they compare?
