Whiskey!

You proved your point. Folks if you drink Baker’s straight you too will have a need to show a nipple shot. LMAO!!! I’m gonna be laughing all day over this pic. How many glasses did you have?

Home with the flu rt now. An older guy at work said to drink a glass of whiskey and that it works everytime. Anybody have any experience with this? Honestly, I don’t see it going down well!! I could see it work maybe for aches and pains?

Don’t most people drink a hottie tottie or something like that??

Tea, honey, and Whiskey if memory serves.

The whiskey or Push’s nipple…lulz.

Yes, a drop or two of water to “wake” it up works well in some cases. I don’t like with ice at all however.

Which whiskeys do you think work better with ice?[/quote]

Hmmm, I am pretty bad with names. If memory serves, which it often doesn’t, I preferred Highland Park Warrior Series Svein, Auchentoshan, and Ardbeg with a single cube.

Think that you’re close. Bourbon, honey, hot water, and lemon.
Pain reliever, sinus opener, and Vitamin C in a drink.

I remember having a bad cold (or the flu) in Rio, and trying to make a hot toddy at the hotel bar at the Marriott on Coppa Cabana beach. Very few bars carried bourbon. No one carried lemons - they all used limes.

Had the hardest time getting bourbon in Latin America. Scotch everywhere, but no bourbon. Hope that things have improved.

Hmmm interesting. Sounds right, I’ve never tried one myself. Just heard of it. Next time I get sick I’ll try it!

I’ve been working on a bottle of the Buffalo Trace that a lot of people mentioned, but I’m just not digging it. It’s a weird muddled taste: kinda smokey but not really, kinda sweet but not really, and kinda burning but not really. It’s a palate confuser.

My local liquor store just got a whole bunch of white whiskey in. Jim Beam, JD, and two or three others I can’t remember. Anyone have thoughts, experiences, or opinions on white whiskeys?

My understanding is that the color and (most of) the taste come from the aging process, I’m more than a bit skeptical. If you try them, let us know how it goes. I’d be surprised if you tasted anything other than rubbing alcohol.

Go figure you get sick on vacation or whatever that sucks. I might try this concoction but please don’t anybody tell Pushharder that I added hot water, lemon and honey to my Bourbon!!!

If you want to put some hair on your chest go with Bookers, not Bakers.

I don’t have the taste buds to pull out the flavors like some do, but I’ve gone through a couple bottles of Buffalo Trace and have always kind of considered it mediocre. It’s decent enough neat for the price, but there’s plenty of others in that same price range that are a lot better.

I missed this thread and haven’t been through all 28 pages, but my bourbon of choice these days is Eagle Rare. I don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet, but in my opinion it’s about the boldest bourbon you are going to find without going to the uncut stuff like Booker’s that I mentioned above. At 90 proof it still drinks pretty easy with great flavor. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone new to bourbon, but if you are ready to move on from Woodford or Knob Creek (BTW, I’m sure it’s been said but Woodford is absolutely wonderful) and want something with a little more kick, give Eagle Rare a try.

Thank you. I appreciate that. It did put a serious damper on my time in that incredible city.

On the flip side, I was in country for about a month on a project, so I got to enjoy Brazil’s other beautiful bounties. CaparinhasSP? are great. The women are drop dead gorgeous, easy to talk too, and very friendly. Overall, great country, but I have no idea what Rio is really like.

Does anyone know if they even have bourbon in Brazil? I saw Jack Daniels a few time, but never bourbon. Wrong on so many levels.

Bourbon mixes well in many drinks. Huge fan of Old Fashioneds. Manhattans are good when they’re made well. Bourbon and bitters works well when the bourbon is low grade. Not sure what other drinks are out there, but those are my go to’s.

Anyone else have a favorite whiskey mixed drink?

2nd vote on the Eagle Rare. I have a hard time giving Buffalo Trace a fair shake because it’s predecessor Ancient Age was considered to be low quality. Eagle Rare is very good. The higher grade Johnny Drum is pretty impressive too. There’s a lot of new stuff from the old distilleries that are pretty good IMO.

The empty’s are just too purty to throw away! This is most of what I’ve bought myself, of course I’ve tried plenty of others at restaurants/bars but they rarely have small batch stuff. These are in order from left to right of what I liked the most. That’s Pappy Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot B on the far left. If anyone comes across that stuff and wants to send me a bottle you’ll make me a very happy man! Eagle Rare’s number 2, followed by Larceny which is relatively new but was pleasantly surprising. As I mentioned you can never go wrong with Woodford Reserve so you’ll see a couple bottles there in the 4 place.
