I need more friends that drink/share whiskey. That way I could try out more before I buy. I have a small bottle of Jameson I got to try and I didn’t like it. I asked a few buddies at work if they wanted it and not one even likes ANY whiskey. I’d give you the whole bottle of Jameson for 2 oz of Bulliet to try lol.
Funny that no one would want it, Jameson is rather popular and has a smoothness that couldn’t really offend anybody.
See that’s what I don’t understand. To me Jameson tasted thin and almost grassy tasting. As soon as I tasted Woodford I was mind=blown. Nards, you’ve had Woodford are there any whiskey’s close to it in taste. Lanky recommended Elmer T Lee but I can’t find that shit anywhere around here.
I’d like to blind taste test some of you because I’ve compared Jameson & Woodford side by side and didn’t find them that different. I agree Woodford is better, it seamed more balanced. I thought they both had the same flavor characteristics and if I remember right, Jameson has a cloying note that hits early and Woodford has a cloying note that hits late but, like I said, they weren’t that different.

Hey Push, give me a little notice sometime when you’re coming thru town and I’ll treat you to a blind tasting. I promise there will be nothing from a plastic bottle.

I think some people just taste alcohol. If I was blind tested between Woodford and Jameson I would pick correct 1000x to me they tasted and smelled night and day. ( and I’m a beginner ) I’m gonna try Buffalo Trace this weekend and after I get used to it I’m might do a blind tasting between Buffalo Trace and Woodford.

William Larue Weller Bourbon - a nice solid American whisky, if I do say so myself.

Tried the Buffalo Trace last night ( and right now ) and I really like it. Stuff smells like oranges to me. Put it beside Woodford last night. Woodford still smells like intense butterscotch to me. Buffalo Trace seems a little milder but very good. All in all they taste similar with Woodford having a little more spice and butterscotch. Maybe Woodford has more rye than BT not sure? Buffalo Trace will always be in my cabinet from now on. 10-12 dollars cheaper and it doesn’t taste like it. I think I’ll keep the Woodford and Scotch for special occasions and mostly drink this BT. Damn does it go down nice especially by a fire outside.
Also, been meaning to try Bulliet they had it it for 24.00 from what I see online that seems to be a decent price. Coming up on another deload plan to drink whiskey and chill.

O.k gonna try Bulliet since it cost the same as Buffalo Trace here in Ohio. If I don’t like it more than Buffalo Trace…i’m gonna buy a effin case of Buffalo Trace… shit is soooooo good. I’ll try other stuff like peaty Scotches and wheated Bourbons but right now for price vs. Quality Buffalo Trace FTW!!! Also sorry for bumping this thread so much but damn do I like whiskey!!!

Posted this over on the Wolf thread but this is its proper home.

The Trader Joe’s near my house got a huge shipment of Bulleit 95 Rye and have been selling it for $20 a bottle, so my brother stocked the fuck up. We’ve been drinking it all week. Temperately, of course.

Great stuff.

I swore after trying Buffalo Trace that that was going to be the only liquor I’d drink. No more fooling around…and it really is great, but then I found the bourbon at Costco which is a liter for abour $18.00 and it tastes pretty much equal to me so now I have 4 bottles of the Costco one on my shelf.

Was drinking 12 year old Glenlivet this past Sat, I really like that.

This is my collection so far. From left to right my least favorite to liquid gold. Except the unopened Bulliet on the end. I have not tried it yet. Ido like every bottle in the collection except Jameson. I went to the store today and picked up the Bulliet and the replacement Buffalo Trace bottle that my neighbor and I destroyed last weekend.

BTW, Buffalo Trace edges out Woodford IMO. I like both about the same but 10-12 dollars cheaper IMO gives Buffalo Trace the win. The Bulliet cost the same as BT so I said WTH!! might as well try it. Cheers!!

I haven’t tried the Bulliet but I have the Bulliet Rye and it’s good. Let us know how it is, brother. Part of what I love is trying out new stuff all the time.

And have fun collecting, it’s quite a slippery slope.

Now you’re getting it for 18 in thailand? (you said 20 before) I’m still paying 33 dollars and i’m only 300 miles from Kirkland headquarters. Phoooque.

Taiwan, not Thailand.

I’m roughly estimating the money…but yeah, it’s about 18 or 19 bucks.

I’d like to hear from anyone else who’s tried it as I like it just fine. I mean to me it’s just as good as Buffalo Trace, which I love, and even if you like it a little less than I do for the price (and it’s a liter bottle) I’m sure anyone could learn to live with it.

I think it’s great. I know I said I didn’t like it after I first tried it but I think that was due to the post toothbrushing effect someone, I think Crowdhater was talking about.

I feel like buying a case…but that just sort of feels wrong, like dangerous.
Nards wrote:

I’d buy a case of Buffalo Trace and not think twice about it. Especially if I got a deal. If I don’t like Bulliet more than BT I’ll probably do exactly that. Still havn’t got around to trying it.( Bulliet ) Although, I will say if I went in there and bought a case…you know damn well that whoever rings me out is thinking, " damn this guy’s got a problem" LOL

I saw this one, called “Thunder” at my local supermarket. It’s 215 Taiwan dollars…which would be about 6 to 7 dollars US.

I feel like getting a bottle for shits and giggles.

Tried Bulliet for the first time today. I really like it. IMO it tastes lighter and drier than Buffalo Trace. I still think BT wins out IMO. Bulliet did have more of a burn at the end. ( maybe because of its high rye content? ) Anyway, I liked the extra burn it gave. Someday I might pick up a bottle of Bulliet rye to try. Untill I try something I like more for about 20.00 I think I’ll stick with BT. Although, I plan on giving my wife a list of expensive bottles I’m interested in for Christmas. Cheers

How much would it cost to ship that to the US? I feel like that would make an excellent bottle for my collection, but I can’t say I’d ever drink it, haha.
