I haven’t drank hard alcohol with any real consistency in at least a couple of years, but at my new place of work I’ve started to have movie nights with the people I work with and have decided to get real drunk at likely every one of said movie nights. We first watched Vampire’s Kiss with Nicolas Cage (which is even better drunk), and then American Psycho because of how vastly underrated I believe it to be. Anyway, Patrick Bateman’s passion for Justerini & Brooks inspired me to bring a couple bottles with me for during the film and I rediscovered my love for whisky at the same time.
I always had a thing for J&B, but I never really branched out too far from that and I’m looking for some great recommendations so I can bring some variety in my whisky during movie night and maybe find a dark horse that I had unfortunately missed earlier on. I’ll be interested in something reasonably light while I get myself reacquainted to being drunk, but would definitely enjoy stronger, rougher whiskies to keep on the backburner for when the time comes.
Bonus points for something featured semi-prominently in a great movie.

Ok, this thread has motivated me. I will be spending my birthday with a bottle of Jameson’s and watching Boondock Saints, it just feels right.[/quote]
Effin a cotton
I’ve been a big fan of CR Black, Bulleit & Booker’s brand bourbon, but I must say, for those that haven’t tried and live in the greater Boston area: Try Trader Joe’s Kentucky bourbon…it’s 1/4 tp 1/3 the price ($15.99) and just as nice!
And if you’re feeling especially froggy, it likewise goes great with a Padron 2000 Maduro cigar; those two were just born to tango.
Who would of that an organic food store like Trader Joe’s would carry such a fine drink.

I never really have been a smoker but I will enjoy a cigar on rare occasion. Or I have occasionally enjoyed some pipe tobacco. I don’t like cigarettes.

Been lurking over this awesome website for a long time. It’s strange that a whiskey thread brought me out of the shadows. This is my first post. Anyway, I like a drink as much as the next guy but up until now it’s was mainly just beer or occasional mixed drink. Beer sorta bloats me up which I don’t like. I’m gonna start trying whiskey’s neat. Don’t particularly like JD. From watching this thread, I think I wanna start with Buffalo Trace or Woodford Reserve. Do you guys think this would be a good start?
( off topic sorta ) I train very hard on 531. Trying to strike a balance between drinking and training without going overboard. Just wanted some drinker/lifters perspective on how much the whiskey effects their training.

I would definitely do post workout not pre workout
unless you are going for a PR in DL then a little pre workout will not hurt

This is why Jim Wendler programmed in the de-load week.
