Where to Get Sandbags?

Today, while doing a sandbag complex for only the third time, the bag ripped ripped. This was rather frustrating. Where have you guys purchased your sandbags from? I would really prefer specific bags instead of a vague category (like “canvas bag”), hopefully with a link to where I can buying one. I have heard military surplus bags are good, but unfortunately there aren’t any where I live. Any help is appreciated.

thanks

How heavy are you looking for? You could just go to a garden center and buy a 50 lb. bag, then duct tape the shit out of it.

I would like to be able to load it up to about 150-160 lbs.

If you’re willing to shell out a bit more money, you can pick up a sandbag designed specifically for lifting. There’s one by Josh Henkin that Mike Mahler likes and EliteFTS carries. Here’s a link:

If you buy it off his site, you can also get some e-books he wrote about sandbag lifting for free.

This is what I have. I used the small ones… the bigger ones are big enough to put a body in.

hmmm the ones on amazon look pretty good…I might order one. Thanks

I have the bags from Josh Henkins, (and his Octane 360 DVD). His bags are spendy, but they rock. If you train inside at home, and want sand all over your house, get something else. Otherwise, get the Henkins bags. They are bullet proof and can take a real beating.

i make my pvt’s steal them for me

You could just make one…

we used old inner tubes- loaded either with sand or bb’s the ones with bb’s or lead shot got upwards of 150.

cut the tube in half seal it with zip ties and load it up.

thanks for all the help!

I got one during the snowy season from a hardwear store, then I took an entire roll of guerilla tape and wrapped the whole thing around it.It weighs about 80 pounds and has held up well.

Like he said. Cost is $0. Just go to your local tire store and they’ll give you a half dozen.
