When to Take Fish Oil?

When to take fish oil? I’ve been having overall good effects by taking approx 1.5g of fish oil a day, but is it good to take immediately after working out? I would assume yes, because it stop inflammation and generally other anti-inflammatories are seen as good post workout (eg. contrast showers).

Thought?

1.5g is nothing, that amount after a workout is fine.

If you were taking 15g PWO, I might suggest a different time.

I had a comprehensive blood test done some time ago and stopped all supplements including fish oil a month beforehand and my DHA/EPA levels were still through the roof. That leads me to believe that time of day is of no consideration at all when taking fish oil. I would imagine that because it’s a lipid, once it builds up in your body, levels stay elevated for a long time.

I take 5 ml liquid fish oil whenever I may have eaten too much omega 6 to balance it out with omega 3.

Also, I like to take an extra dose if a workout was particularly gruesome to help with inflammation.

As far as polyunsaturated fatty acids go, more is not better. It is virtually impossible to avoid omega 6 as it is in just about every source of fat one can find. Reduce your intake of omega 6 and you also reduce your need for omega 3.

Yes, this is what I use. Tasty and not too expensive.

I used to take it in the morning and it really gave me trouble.

Now I take it in the evening with dinner and I have no problems.
