When is the best time of day to take fish oils and how many capsules should be taken?
How many mg’s of EPA and DHA per capsule? I would shoot for about 2 grams of the combined EPA and DHA per day, spread evenly between 3 servings with food.
I take 6 caps a day, 2 with breakfast, 2 with an afternoon meal, and 2 with dinner. And yeah, it depends what size the caps are. If you want anything higher than 2 grams or so, look into getting the liquid.
Personally, swallowing capsules often isn’t appealing to me so I just drink a big sip of fish oil after all of the meals I eat at home.

Talk about unappealing.
agree.
taste of oil makes it basically impossible for me to do that, I just cough up the cash for the capsules.
360mg EPA and 240mg DHA per capsule. So two grams of EPA and DHA combined?
After you decide on dosage, be sure not to take them on an empty stomach since they’ll be burned for fuel. Like the other said: with meals is the best time.
I usually spread it through the day and try to take about 6 caps per day. Usually with my larger meals. Helps me avoid the fish burps.
Mmm…as long as I know its good for me, I can eat and enjoy anything. I find that fish oil tastes a bit better than flaxseed oil too. Yum…
Hi!
I just have to mini hijack this thread.
I am eating krilloil, and it has 75 mg EPA and 45 mg DHA per capsul. Should I change fishoil pills? I can’t find a place in sweden that sells Flameout Ordering from the site would ruin me. But is that not enough epa/dha per capsul?

That’s very low.
Either take many more caps per day, or find a brand with higher levels of EPA/DHA.

Tjena,
I don’t know which brand of krill oil you’re referring to here, so I can’t really judge. I personally use Pharbio’s Omega-3 Forte. The oil is as clean as it gets, but the ratio EPA/DHA is no different than every other brand around. I’d rather use FLAMEOUT though.

Hi Lixy
I am using Star nutrion omega-3, krill oil. Bought it from gymgrossiten. Can you buy Flameout here in Sweden?
Where did you buy your omega-3 pills from?
sorry op

I tried those Omega-3’s from Star Nutrition, but they aren’t as clean nor as potent as the ones from Pharbio. Gymgrossisten as well as every Apoteket carries the Pharbio brand. The price difference between SN and Pharbio is of the order of 5%, so it’s really no big deal money-wise. You’ll probably notice that the latter gets rid of those nasty burps.
And no, Flameout is not available anywhere in Sweden as far as I know (and God have I been looking around).
Hope this helps,
tnx alot!
when you take liquid fish oil it can add calories to help put some extra calories in your diet…both caps and liquid are beneficial just depends on how you want to use fish oil
Taking a bit with each meal is what is generally recommended. In terms of capsules Flameout is probably the best bang for your buck. If you want to go the liquid route, Carlson’s Fish Oil has a natural lemon flavor added to it, making it go down very smoothly (no fishy flavor).

You guys are getting me confused…Here in the USA, we have radio commercials claiming the best fish oil caps are out of Finland, and you are one helluva’ lot closer to Finland than us, so what’s the deal? Marketing hype for gullible Americans?..or fact? (and if fact, why would you prefer to have the more costly Flameout?)…
