When I grow up, I want to be an Alicorn

your pic from the front from today looks like you’re either holding water or bloated from gas

Back looks leaner

Whole lot of this, couple days into that time of the month. I was walking around feeling like a water balloon.

Yay! Thank you!

Starting to feel the higher calories. Boy does it feel nice to not be starting these sessions exhausted.
Machine press is finally creeping up in reps. Hip Press has a crazy amount of plates on it.

Weigh-in and Macros
144.6, -1.2lbs

Bodies are weird. Lost over a pound on the first week of gaining. Granted, that time of the month last week would have thrown the scale a bit. However, I was expecting that slight bump to stick around.
The app I am using auto-adjusts calories for me by how much I am eating, weigh-ins, etc. It bumped me up to 1800 cals for a gain… woo… All well, it still feels better than 1400. Gotta tell this furnace how to burn hot.

Oh! I ordered these:

Going to grab a bench off Marketplace to go with them. Excited to have these to add lifting at home!

I’ll be excited to hear how you like them. I’ll have to take a pic of my pile of DBs when I get home. It’s a nightmare.

Aside from that, wow! Look at you go!

I like the solid feel of a normal DB, but I don’t have the space for it. I hope they work well, I’ll have a review to follow for sure.
I think I’ll be trying some CG workouts with them!

Moving right along! Feels nice to eat, ha.

Conditioning

25 Minute AMRAP:
10 KBS, 1 Goblet Squat
15 KBS, 2 GS
25 KBS, 3 GS
50 KBS
200 yd run

Made it 4 rounds.
Definitely moving slow this morning, as evidenced by only 4 rounds. Grip is not used to swings, set the bell down a lot. Running then going right back into swings was an eye opener, glad this was fasted.

Work is kicking my butt this week. Mentally exhausted and there are two more days left of a busy week. Glad it’s a long weekend, the desert calls to me, it’s beyond time for red rock therapy.

Ahhhh…Labor day, the light at the end of the tunnel

Hell yeah brother, Labor day is looking like a lighthouse in a storm right now.

REALLY excited for this review, as below is how I live. This represents “cleaned up,” as the ones in current use are usually left out. When I think about the meltdown I’d have if my husband left an equivalent mess of his tools or whatever in the living room, I have to give serious points.

I hope you like CG as much as I do!

A few days worth, this week so far

Sunday
5 mile slot canyon hike, not too technical, but narrow enough I had to take my pack off in a few areas.

Monday
7 mile slot canyon hike. More technical, some decents required rope assistance and lots of scrambling. Same area the whole 127 hours thing happened. Always comforting.

Weight-in: 146.0, +1.4 from last week, +0.2 total gain. Behind schedule.

Wednesday
30 minute Caroline Girvan kettlebell workout… @EmilyQ (love the DB/KB pile by the way!)
Kept things moving, lots of swings and other movements between. It was great!
Then, 3 mile, hilly run/walk.

My dumbbells are not at my place yet… had them delivered to my In-laws because I don’t trust sending things to my apartment. Haven’t made it over there to pick them up yet.

Some night sight photos from the Pixel, love this feature.

Those are awesome photos! I need to get out to western CO/Eastern Utah and do some hiking, somehow never been there. Did you sharpen your knife before doing the slot canyons?

I haven’t seen stars in such a long time. Thanks for sharing.

It’s so amazing out here, and it’s basically your back yard now!
I have a list of amazing places I think I posted in someone’s log here that I might have to go find for you.

I forget just how many there are. Slept in the back of an open truck bed for those. So good for the soul.

My chest was arguing strongly against pressing. Weights just weren’t moving.
Hip press went well at least, really the rest of the lifting did.
Feeling slightly under recovered from the hikes and running, I don’t think I did a very good job on eating back the calories burned. I’ll have to fix that.

How long must I wait??!

Just kidding. Take your time. The DB pile works fine, it just doesn’t look nice.

I know, I am slacking! Looking like I’ll be able to make it over there Sunday. It’s across town

I have a lonely bench in my living room waiting for dumbbells friends. I did get to use it with the Caroline G KB workout the other day. That was nice.

Everything was cooperating today. Had more food since Thursday, that helped. Or it was just a good day.
The long length partials (basically a pulse at the bottom of the squat to parallel then back down) are brutal. I get nauseous every time.

Did this, flew an airplane, sent my second student on a long, solo and now I am sitting at a coffee shop with my hubby. Great weekend already. Going to see a man about a new (to me) rental airplane tomorrow, photos look awesome. Excited to expand the non-owned “fleet”.

Fantastic day, pecs were cooperative again. Legs sent it on the hip press. Super Squats definitely taught me a lot about being willing to breathe under tension.

Windy morning, but a great temperature. Legs were feeling the heavy hip press yesterday.

Drive up to the higher elevation office today for training. Leaves are starting to change up here. I’m not ready!
