I went on psych meds for bipolar disorder several years ago and basically just completely stopped working out. I just totally lost motivation. I didn’t care that I was weak, and I didn’t care that I was fat. I’m tired all the time and eat like a horse. As of this morning I have gained exactly 53 pounds of pure belly fat since starting the meds. I’m testing borderline for diabetes when I get my bloodwork done. I’m on cholesterol and blood pressure meds as well.
I’ve come to the realization that I’m going to have a heart attack if I don’t get off my ass, start working out, and quit eating Burger King every day for lunch. The clincher, though, is that last night I felt an in-grown hair at the base of my dick, and realized I couldn’t even see it. I have a dickey-do. That’s right, my belly sticks out farther than my dick does.
With all that in mind, I set out this morning to change things. I’ve set a goal of weighing 214 by my birthday on September 28. That will be about 48 pounds less than I weigh now (262), and will be 50 less than I weighed last year on my birthday. That’s only 2 pounds a week for 24 weeks. I realize it’s not an aggressive goal, but it’s worlds better than I’m doing now. I’ll post my fat pics this afternoon when I get home. I’m going to start out slow so I don’t get so sore I quit after week one.
After a month, I’m going to the 5/3/1 plan. I’m going to lift weekday mornings and do some type of cardio at night. I lift in my garage, and have a prowler that was welded by a friend of a friend. There’s about a 30 yard stretch of grass in my back yard that I can push on.
Week 1 Monday Weight 262
Bench
BarX12
135X10
185X5
205X5
225X5
235X5
245X5
Purple band pushdowns
12Xnarrow
12xwide
12Xoverhead
Welcome aboard. And, actually, two lbs. a week for more than a few weeks is pretty aggressive. Losing a few lbs. of water weight is easy, but for fat loss that’s a 7000 Kcal. deficit per week. That is not that easy and would be a big accomplishment.
Damn Doogie that made me laugh. Since we are both on here you know we can check on each other. Not like it was when we were young at Golds but we have to fix this shit before we die. NO EXCUSES. Man. I will see you next week, we will be down to close on the house. Later
It was too wet to push the prowler, so my wife talked me into doing P90X Ab Ripper 3 with her. It killed me. I was too fat to do most of it and it still kicked my ass.
fat pics from a little less than a year ago, so everyone can see what I’m working with. I asked my wife if this is how fat I still am and she said yes.

Imagine what would happen if the roles were reversed and you said yes to the same question!!!

I’ll edit and add the cardio tonight.[/quote]
Reasonable goal and very do-able. Just be sure to tailor your eating and training to fat loss and it will come off. I’ve actually been able to lose the same 35-40# every summer for the last 4 yrs or so…225 in the winter, 185 in the summer. Not doing that this year. My goals are different this time. Oh, and a food tracking program will be your best friend. Good luck. Oh, and welcome to the ‘Old Folks Home’

I was gonna say get a bigger dick on the “dickey-do” issue, but it wouldn’t be that funny.
So, good luck and hope you stay on the wagon. BTW, it might be a good idea to post your diet just in case some guys on here can give suggestions. Maybe not what you eat day to day but just an outline of how you’re diet is at this point.

That makes sense. I was eating two double-cheeseburgers and a value onion rings for lunch from Burger King EVERYDAY. No breakfast. Then at when I got home I’d grub on Doritos at about 5 o’clock. For dinner I’d eat as much as I possibly could of shitty, high processed carbs and some sort of protein.
Now I’m taking a Metabolic Drive shake for breakfast at around 7am after lifting. For lunch at around 12 and dinner around 6 I’m eating some sort of meat or eggs, cheese, and some green pepper and onion. I’m going to have to throw in some nuts in the morning because I’m getting hungry between the time I drink the shake and lunch.
Welcome aboard! You have found the best group on the interwebz. No one can keep you as informed and motivated as this lot.
Bench and rows look good. And despite what you are trying to lose, looks like you have good size in your delts and upper arms. Great frame for growth and loss
Uncle Fester? Just kiddin. Looks like you’ve got a pretty good foundation to start with. Some good lifts and muscle. Welcome aboard and good luck with the goals.
Ran out of weight on the deadlift. Gonna have to buy another set or a couple of 45s. I was surprised to find that I didn’t have to use a mixed grip on any of the sets. I guess whacking it has kept the grip strength up for the past couple of years.
Weighed in at 256 this morning. That’s 6 pounds of water weight in two days.
Nice Doug real nice. I think this gets back to what we read back in the 90’s about over eating and putting on lean muscle mass along with the fat. You using straps?
