When I grow up, I want to be an Alicorn

Wednesday
10k Swing Challange

5x:
10 Swings
15 Swings
25 Swings
50 Swings
Done in 21:33
1500/10000

Knocked these out before work. Moving slooow this morning. Had a rough night. Up coughing most of it. Ready for this cold/cough to go away now. Grip was better today. Lower back was angry the first 3 rounds, but not to a concerning level. I do love the simplicity of this challange. So nice to get these done at home, and quickly.

5x:
10 Swings, Goblet Squat 1 rep
15 Swings, Goblet Squat 2 reps
25 Swings, Goblet Squat 3 reps
50 Swings
Done in 18:43
2000/10000

Flew through this one. Only set the bell down between the rounds and before the set of 50 on the last two rounds. Grip was better, hopefully my years of climbing will make grip endurance come back quickly. Lower back was feeling great after the first round.

10k Swing Challange

5x:
10 Swings, Chin-up 1 rep
15 Swings, Chin-up 2 reps
25 Swings, Chin-up 3 reps
50 Swings
Done in 19:38
2500/10000

Grip and forearm pump was real. I dropped the bell on the last set of 50.
Appetite has been voracious this week. Hope that means some fat loss is happening. Been mostly ignoring the hunger, though I did have a bit (or maybe more than a bit) of chips and salsa after this. I have been hearing “you are looking awesome, keep doing what you have been doing” from hubby. Way better than what the scale says!

Swings and Presses
Done in 16:57
3000/10000

Starting to think this would have been better to run along side a lifting program, but I am liking not having to go the gym as much. Right grip was wearing out faster than lefty. Kept moving through the first 3 rounds. Set the bell down after each round, and before the set of 50 on the last two rounds.

Swings and Dips (rds 2-5 were assisted dips)
Done in 23:10
3500/10000

Did this at the gym, tried a 40lb KB, that was fun on the grip! I lost track of the rounds after 2 or 3. I erred on the side of being lower, so it is possible I did six rounds.

.25 mile KB carry
5000/10000

Carried the KB down to the park, I don’t have a pullup bar at home. Slower than last week’s swings and pullups. I blame the carry down. Lower back really started bugging me after the 3rd round. It still isn’t 100% yet.
Halfway there!

Grip has still not adjusted to the swings. Back was better today.
I have been slacking on eating less for the last week. Hence, no weight updates, have not weighed myself in a couple weeks. Also not craving bad food, I just want all the almond butter and yogurt. Swings = appetite.

I am all of these things. It sounds like your nutrition is “sorted”: you’re in a spot where you’re eating exactly what you need to eat and, in turn, it’s what you WANT to eat. Often cravings for junk are a manifestation of cravings for just plain old nutrients. A satiated body craves only further satiation.

And almond butter and yogurt is the fuel of champions!

Still a big fan of what you are all about.

I hadn’t looked at it that way, that explains the desire for all the good food. Sounds like it should be a welcome craving!

Thanks for dropping by!

Swings only (40lb KB)
This went 150, 50, 50, 25, 25, 50, 25, 25, 50, 25, 25
Done in 18:34
6500/10000

Pull ups - 6, 5,
 2, 1
Lat pull downs - 3 x 10 x 100

Ez Bar Curls - 40 x 10, 8, 8

Reverse Hypers - 20, 20, 10

I don’t know what it is about the swing only day, but it is the hardest. Grip and lower back were fried after the 150. I wanted to see how many I could do without stopping. Grip was the main factor. Random stuff was joining hubby on his accessories.

Swings and Chins
Done in 24:29

I am feeling off today. It started with only eating three instead of my usual five pancakes. (Pumpkin Protein Pancakes with dark chocolate chips) If this little piggy doesn’t finish her breakfast, something is wrong. I kept getting nauseous throughout the swings. I took a lot of breaks and moved slowly to settle my stomach.
Feel fine sitting at the coffee shop now, not sure what is going on there.

Funny work day yesterday:
Context - the Project Manager on my two projects just quit, his last day was Thursday. The other assistant PM and I are now getting a new PM on our projects.
My team has had one on one meetings with the general contractor on one of the projects. We are behind so they have been related to how we are going to get caught up, manpower discussions, etc. Yesterday was the third special meeting with them and the first with our new PM. It was also the first of these meetings I was invited to. My new PM is more inclusive and wants me with him as much as possible. (Fantastic learning opportunity, I love that he wants me to know everything he does, but that is a story for another day.)
After going back and forth on various topics, the superintendent with the general contractor brought up change orders. I had sent him two change orders earlier in the week and he replied to those emails stating he wanted to discuss them further before sending them to the building owner.
After discussing the particulars of the change orders, the superintendent turned to me and said:
Super: “Those emails you sent were really
good. Are you an English major?”
Me: “No, I do not have a degree. What was good about them?”
Super: “I don’t know, I guess they were very literate and proper.”
One of the executives from my company leans over to me and says, “What he is saying, is that he needs you to use more crayons and pictures in your emails to understand them.”
Mind you, this is still in the meeting, right across the table from the super. Everyone laughed, construction is nice sometimes.
After the meeting, I told my PM and the executive that I’ll be sure to use smaller words so the super can better understand future communications.
Later in the day, my company had a PM roundtable/lunch Christmas party. My new PM grabbed a random point of silence in the room to state: "So (my name) received the best compliment I have ever heard a superintendent give to someone today: Then he proceeded to tell the room the story. Two VPs of the company were there.
Synopsis:
My work emails apparently sound intelligent.
I ate a free 18oz ribeye at this party. Yes, I ate the whole thing.
The two VPs that were in my interview were able to hear how I am doing in my role.
I also scored a Cotopaxi fanny pack from the white elephant exchange. I am not above wearing a multi-colored fanny pack. It will be my new purse.

  1. That is awesome, the new PM sounds great especially if they’re going to teach you everything, that’s gonna prepare you for a promotion that you will definitely get, hopefully in the near future.

  2. I love how I absolutely understood everything you typed out
