What's This Exercise Called?

In the gym today I was sort of messing around trying to find an exercise that worked the upper back and rear delts. I got myself a lightly loaded barbel and lifted it as you would a hack squat so that the weight was held at arms length behind my upper hamstring when I got to the upright position.

Then I bent forward at the waist so that my torso was parallel to the ground. The barbel by this stage obviously descends and was nestled in the crook of my knee.

This is the starting position. ( I found it a more comfortable position by bending my knees at this stage to take some pressure off my lower back ).I then belted out a rapid series of reps by pushing the barbel backwards away from my legs.

The reps were quick and because the range of motion wasnt very large they were more like pulsed reps. Whatever this exercise is called ( even if its called Lunatic Back Pulse ) it felt really good. Has anyone on here seen it or tried it?

I have no idea what to call that but if I saw someone doing that “exercise” I would probably spit out my Surge. Was this a serious question?

I just tried a similiar movement at my desk, and only real movement I felt was scapluar retraction. I don’t know if this lift is called anything. Personally I wouldn’t bother since there’s so many other lifts that do the job, like rear delt raises, face pulls, scap pushups, etc.

That sounds similar to a supine DB exercise that helps with back levers (a gymnastics move) but your palms were probably facing away from you. Anway, sounds like a cool move, I’ll definitely try it.

Wouldn’t a straight arm pulldown do basically the same thing with a whole lot less pain in the ass?
