grade school/high school
equestrian sports dressage training to level 2 rode like 8 horses/day, did some smaller 3-day eventing comps, mostly galloping around golf courses at night and jumping picnic tables (during the day).
downhill skiing - not competitive, but I can mogul. I suck at snowboarding.
college
ncaa rowing for a year
does tango count? how bout yoga? thats what I thought.
road biking? totally into it these days.
Damn. I may sound like some wealthy connecticut rich kid with these sports but it really wasnt like that. I probably would have been a pretty good competitive swimmer, but unfortunately I didnt have the right mindset for competition back then.

As some other guy pointed out, I was not cereal. Looks like the kid is 8 now.
He’s gonna be a freak if he quadruples his weights and has 15-20 years of experience behind him.
Or he’ll just get frustrated and bored with the game if his parents push him too hard. A guy on my team in HS was like that.
Played soccer in germany since I could move then moved to America.
Middle School to Beginning of high school played Basketball.
MVP every year whoot.
Started swimming. Went to school “finals”, then Far Westerns and got my National cut. After I got my national cut I was going to stat swimming club but it was too much. (7 hours of training per day except sunday.)
Was going for Olympic Trials cut but missed it (barely). Got like 5 school records in my sophmore year and broke it every year after. My life was at an all time low and went to persue something that I felt would be better in the long term, my education.
Got offers, but none of them would have helped me get my major.
Went to CC swam and played waterpolo there.
Couple of European Professional Waterpolo players there and was planning on going back to Germany and playing with this one pro team. Met with the coach and had a spot on the team. But I decided I really needed to get my head into getting my college education.
I played soccer from ages 5 to 19. Was part of the Oklahoma ODP program for awhile. Do they even have that anymore? Doesn’t matter; it was a frickin’ joke anyways. More political than anything. Then played one year of collegiate soccer for a private college. We qualified for the National Championships in some association that I don’t remember; it wasn’t NCAA. Lost the championship game to Kansas Wesleyan. Played football senior year in high school and ran cross-country sophomore & junior years. Dabbled in a few other sports but not significant enough to note.
15 years of powerlifting with multi-ply bests of 826-578-584-1967 at 220.
Played four years of HS football and a year of D3 ball, OG/DE.
One year of JV track, one year of JV ice hockey.
Finished a quarter-Ironman triathlon.
Don’t have a fast-twitch fiber in my body and with my T-rex arms, I was always much better at lifting weights than being playing sports, although I think I could’ve been decent as a hockey defenseman if I had played all along.

Fantastic numbers but it brings me to a personal gripe I have with equipment (and no, I don’t want to derail the thread about PL and equip ). You have a huge spread from your DL to your SQ. I know what I think, but what do you attribute that to?

Martial Arts: Karate(Kenpo), TKD(ITF), Aikido, Kung Fu, Boxing/Kickboxing, Fencing - 6yrs+ total
Community League Football: Outside backer/D End - 3yrs
Track and Field: mostly throwing(shot/discus, sucked at javelin) and jumping(LJ primarily) some sprints - 2yrs
Basketball: Center - 3 yrs
Rugby: 8 man - 1 yr
Unfortunately I was too punk rock to take my sports seriously enough as a kid and I wish I’d done more with what I had.
Also, I regret never having wrestled. I’m pretty sure I would have fucking loved it.

I did gymnastics from age 5-12. Got too tall, apparently gymnastics isn’t meant for guys 6’2".
Played basketball from about age 7-16.
Ran cross country from age 15-18. 18:30 5K
Ran track from 13-28. Continually debate on whether or not I should start again.
Track PR’s
100m = 11.10
110HH = 14.59
200m = 22.42
400m = 47.5
400mH = 53.54
1500m = 4:30.3
Long Jump = 23’ 2"
High Jump = 6’ 9.5"
Pole Vault 15’ 5"
Shot Put (16lbs) = 41’ 10.75"
Discus (2Kg) = 128’ 3"
Javelin (800g) = 168’ 11"
I wonder what this guy’s been up to?
telling more lies.
I don’t know. The ratios all seem legit, except of course the discus is low. Also, the feet & inches is in accurate conversion from metric marks. At least I know the pole vault mark is, for sure. I don’t see any reason to doubt this guys claims except that the numbers make him a world class decathlete.
Trey Hardee posts on Pole Vault Power.com. Is it far fetched that a less elite decathlete might be posting here?
Well, unless he’s a decathlete it’s bullshit. Track is about specialization. Guys running the 100 are not throwing the javelin, for instance. Heck, they aint runnin the 1500 either :)
Clearly a decathlete.
I was a decathlete, though I was better at the indoor pent and hep since I was a shitty thrower. Qualified for a few USATF Championships but only competed in one. I then got frustrated with injuries and the time requirements for training, plus having my first child, that I decided to hang it up.

The spread is completely due to the squat gear and I have shitty DL leverages. Not going to pretend otherwise.

Ah a breath of fresh air
Not that I was implying you weren’t fucking ox strong without gear. 584 pull at your weight is nothing to sneeze at and neither would a squat in that range either.
