What's Considered Good Size?

Honest opinions guys…

What would be some pretty good measurments for the following height and weights…

5’10, 185lbs and 6’1, 165lbs

Arms
Chest
Legs

Thanks for the opinions in advance.

6’1, 165 pounds and you expect to have anything close to “pretty good measurements”?

This is a really hard question to answer since everyone generally has different proportions. One of my good friends is 6’3’‘, 200 lb and nearly has 18 inch arms. Not that 18 inches is absolutely massive, it just is big for a 200 lb guy at 6’3’'. Just so long as you are muscular, I wouldn’t worry about measurements.

@ 6’1 165 you’d probably have a ripped 3.5 inches of bicept.

Seriously dude, post these people’s numbers if you want to hear an honest answer.

Is that all you can reply? Nothing to actually help the matter? Then give what you consider good measurments for just 6’1 then.

Also, notice, another height and weight are listed as well.

honest opinion…considering every 7 billion people on the planet or however many there are, are basically unique, its a pretty fucking stupid question.

the 6’1 person is going to look pretty fucking skinny though and measurements are the least of their worries

I don’t know the 6’1 165lbs numbers…I’m asking for a goal I guess for this one.

5’10
185lbs

16 inch arms
47 inch chest
26 inch thighs
18 inch calves

yup
nope
6’1" - over 230 with less then 15% bf - good base
at 5’8" - over 190 with less then 13% bf - good start

I’m 5’10", 185lbs. that’s not good sized. I’m small.

Good measurements? 6’1" 165lbs sounds like someone who doesn’t even lift weights at all. 5’10" and 185lbs sounds like someone very average. Did you fall into the bodybuilding forum by accident?

Ha. You’re such a douche sometimes.

It’s like you guys only read the first post, don’t bother with the rest of the topic, and go off all willy-nilly.

I’m not average sized, then again, I guess we can’t all be giant work-nazi’s like yourself.

Although there are always exceptions…

At about 10% BF w/Upper/Lower Body Balance:
3.0 lbs for every inch of height (Manimal)
3.5 lbs for every inch of height (Beast)
4.0 lbs for every inch of height (Monster)

I was told this in 1985 and it is still a solid rule of thumb.

What’s a “work-nazi”?

The rest of the topic? Gee, I guess in a world filled with X-box playing doughy fuckers who can’t even do one push up without their knees touching the ground, you may not be “average”. However, in a world occupied by people who actually lift weights on a regular basis, your current stats are LESS than many beginners. Again, with those stats, I doubt anyone but those same doughy fuckers you go to school with thinks you lift weights.

You asked for opinions, right? Or did you just want opinions that made you feel like you were doing ok?

You aren’t. Go eat something.

I guess anyone who actually takes this seriously…which is horrible.

i’m 5’11" and weigh 215lbs at 12-15%, when in the gym i have some separation in the deltoids (all heads visible), vascularity is notable in the shoulder, arm, forearm region. i have a belly by my standards, mind you i can still where 32in waist at 215lbs.

MY POINT: i look big compared to guys who are not big. in my gym i do not stand out, but friends other training folks have noted i’m getting bigger.

at my height and at a weight of 215lbs i’d look relatively good at 4% bf, i am not there. at my height and w/ my bone structure i need 240lbs on my frame, to get where i want to be.

big difference aesthetically at 215lbs w/ bf 12-15% vs same weight at sub 8% bf.

that said everybody has a different goal, however you are asking this Q on a BB site.

This is a better topic for the beginners forum.

Here is a serious reply. Look up the Greek Ideal. Those numbers are a place to start - not end like many argue. In other words, you meet those numbers you have accomplished something but you are not in the bodybuilding realm yet. According to those charts I should have stopped at 170ish but I still feel small over 185. I know 200 walking around lean at my height is a better goal. What I will measure out at will be whatever I measure out as.

oooh work-out nazi. it’s what I meant. typo. my bad.

A.) I’m not in school and haven’t been for 5 year.

B.) I obviously have a real job where I can’t live in the gym.

C.) I work out every day after work for at least an hour.

How many push-ups can you actually do X? If that’s what you’re gonna bring up…

I asked for opinion on what would be good measurments in inches for the areas described. You just decided to show up, like you always do and insult people.

You totally had my respect when I came on this site back in '07 but man, recently you’ve done nothing but been a dick.

Maybe benching 300lbs as a max, curling 175lbs as a max, deadlifting 240lbs for sets…yeah maybe that is average. At least I put forth some effort.

People come on this site everyday asking for advice and all they get is “noob”, “troll”, “fat skinny”…You never actually help.

Step off your pedestal asshole. We get it, you’re the biggest dude at the BBQ! applause

Now… back to the question for those who aren’t too busy being assholes.

5’10
185lbs

What would be considered good measurments in inches for the following areas…

Waist
Chest
Arms
Thighs
Calves

Tex Ag, cyruseven75, thanks for the serious non-douche replies. I’ll be sure to look into the Greek Ideal.
