So I’m curious what price would/do you pay per month to go to a gym like Westside, EFTS or MetroFlex? I’m not talking about having that talent around just a gym with that mindset and equipment. I haven’t found anything in my area so I can’t go check out what they’d charge.
Asking because I’m about to be laid off at the end of April and am getting a nice going away present, considering investing in a gym, do what you love kind of thing and am trying to get a feel for a price to charge if I pull the trigger.
I thought I saw a topic about this a few years ago but can’t seem to find it, search engine is awesome.
It’s so hard to say. I would say do some research first. What are gyms in the area charging? You won’t be able to charge the same as a giant chain gym, but a little more and you could get people. 2x or 3x as much? Probably not.
There as this gym in Columbia, SC I went to called Brickhouse that, while not equiped like EFTS or Westside, had the mindset. They had 2 oly platforms, 3 separate weights for sledgehammers, tires out back, Indian Clubs, bumper plates, 3 power cages, chalk stations, blah blah blah
im paying 40 a month for a garbage health club with garbage music. \
it has racks that no one uses so its good for that, but it really sucks trying to PR when there is a miley cyrus party in the usa dance remix being played (dont really like lifting /w my ipod).
we cant use chalk, cant use chains, get bitched at for dropping rubber dumbbells on a rubber floor (how am i supposed to gently drop a 100lb DB from a military press without putting a ton of stress on my shoulder - im not throwing the thing but dropping it from thigh height, seated, maybe)
however, its the best option in my town, and its close to my house. if i had to drive more than a half hour to get their it wouldnt be as convenient.
I’m at a gym about 10 miles away from metroflex (its kind of a cross between metro and a family friendly gym). They have chains, bands, 4 squat racks, rubber plates, fat bars, prowler, the whole nine yards but, they also have tanning booths and child care during the day.
I pay $31.00 a month (no extras just gym) and I think this is about right. Its a little larger than metroflex but the music is terrible and there are a lot of old people in there. I would go to metro but 20 miles is just too far to drive but, if it was closer I would gladly pay the extra 10 bucks for the atmosphere.
If I knew you, I would pay $30-40 month assuming that would include food and beverages. Right now I pay $12 for Fitness 19. The owner is pretty cool (prepping for a bb show) and lets me use chalk and deadlift. Win.

Dame. That looks like a pretty cool facility. Where is that warehouse place?
I pay nothing. I’m a gov’t employee and I train at two different gyms for the most part, but even though I’m in Hawaii right now, I work out at the pearl harbor gym gratis.
Quality of the facilities is generally pretty good… Racks, EliteFTS equipment, and dumbs that go up to 150.
Wow,and I thought I was getting ripped off. I was promised 15 bucks a months but im actually paying 21.50. Theres Chains,Fatbars,1 Power Rack,1 Squat Rack,Some Ruski Kettle bells, and a Prowler. The downside? Its ridiculously small. The owner felt that to make some extra money,he would use the extra room where the Power Rack and the powerlifting equipment should be as a miniature MMA/Boxing gym. Which is a cool idea if the gym wasent the size of 4 trailers. Im strongly considering quitting because of the size and because the owner is a douche sometimes.
I pay $30 a month as a student, $50 for non students for one of the greatest gym I have ever been in . 4 combo racks ,3 power racks, 3 deadlift platforms, dumbells 5-110, leg press, ext, curl, reverse hyper, about 5,000lbs of weights and a few other toys. And it is private key so 24hr access.
The only kind of gym that would slightly resemble NATOR’s gym would be if I joined a real powerlifting gym. I can’t afford that since I love MMA and grappling. Oh, well. I’d say about 40$.
I almost payed 50$ for a local YMCA when I was staying in USA, but I’m glad I didn’t.
$40 a month at “extreme fitness” which is a pretty big gym where I live… although it’s only that cheap for me because i’ve been a member for many years… most who sign up now pay 50 or 60 a month.
I also pay $100 a month at a separate gym for training muay thai and so that I can attend their strength and conditioning classes
