Limb proportions aside, I’m betting that the lower someone’s weight is the more likely you’re going to have a larger difference between the two. [/quote]
Agreed, that seems to be a trend.
I know a 17 year old kid that competes USPA at 132 lbs, pulled 430 in a comp but he can barely squat 3 plates.
Closest was 94% at the end of the summer. Then I discovered sumo and that went down to 78%. Lately my deadlift has been going up and my squat going down, probably bringing it close to 70%.
Just set a big PR in the Squat at today’s meet (325) . . . which brings my % to 91. I went for 375 in the Deadlift but missed.
For the record, I compete at 132 and pull sumo.
At least now my PRs for both lifts are in meets and not in training, so I don’t have to distinguish between training PRs and meet PRs anymore.

I’m actually the guy in the photo, not the girl. Sorry. ![]()
The girl in the photo is 2x Figure Olympia Champion Erin Stern. I don’t believe she posts her but I’m pretty sure she does read T-Nation as I have seen her share a couple of T-Nation articles on her Facebook page.

My mistake, as I also read “machina” and interpreted wrong. You are one STRONG man! So sorry, and it doesn’t take away from my admiration for your lift!

I’ve noticed the reverse in my gym. Though this might be because the smaller guys are mostly Asian and are all absolutely beastly squatters lol.
68% raw - no belt or wraps; 330 squat and 485 deadlift, only a year or two ‘serious’ lifting
I also have stupid gangly limbs which probably contributes to the massive difference
82%
80% between my squat and deadlift… and an 82% difference between my bench and squat. Well that doesn’t sound right.
90%
91%
108% unwrapped.
73%
405lbs squat and a 455lbs deadlift so… 89%.
meet pr 97.7%… Squatted 474 and deadlifted 485
