What Happened to the T-Nation Community?

I went from a regular poster to mainly a lurker these days. I’ll echo what a few people have said:

 • Just older now. More going on in life and less time to fart around online. I also Don’t really engage in training talk much online because I know what works for me and what I like to do. The articles hold much less import in my mind because of this well

 • As a natty lifter with mediocre genetics and thus results, I just dont feel all that confident giving advice any more. Every now and then if a noob asks a question I feel like I have some insight on and no one else has answered I’ll jump in but other than that I stay quiet.

 • Forum technical issues. PM’s have been broken for years which really sucks, you cant jump to last post in a thread any more, forum signs you out after only a few minutes of inactivity. Makes the whole user experience suffer at almost every turn really.

 • Article Comments thread / livespill is gone: This really took away from the content in my opinion, as many times the Q&A in the comments was better than the article.

Overall I still like the site and visit most days of the week, and still buy a few staple supps from Biotest, but yeah it just isn’t the same for me as when I was 21 and didn’t know what I know now.
I share these sentiments

I’ve wondered if it’s just online forums in general. With various social media allowing threads to comment on, it’s a very similar format.

And yeah, it’s not always as easy as life progresses. I still try to pop on when I can, but wih a one year old running around, a new job where I can’t logon with the wifi during my lunch break like I always used to, and the fact that as much as I love chiming in and helping others out, there’s not always a whole lot going on when I do manage to scroll for new threads to catch my interest,

My thinking is kind of in line with yours except I think it’s not so much due to sites like Yahoo having comment sections for articles, I think it’s more due to Facebook and Texting pushing out posting activity.

This is the only forum I participate in, has anyone noticed a similar drop-off in other forums?

Yep. My fly fishing/tying forums are virtualy silent and they used to be jumping this time of year.

What happened to TC? He’s gone?

The close connection between admins, editors, mods and members is virtually nonexistent also. There’s practically no “tie that binds,” if I may borrow the term from the Christian hymn.

It ain’t what you remember it being 'round here.
Truth.

My feeling is that they would prefer that traffic be pushed to Facebook, and that the forums are being kept around as a kind of favor to long time members.

After the great purge, clearly another direction was being focused on.

Wouldn’t they want facebook hits move the traffic to their new sister site? I think they are using social media to help increase traffic to their website? Pretty sure that’s how it works.

Still thinking about DebraD…miss that saucy ginger goddess.

by the way, I am a total fan of Billy Idol~

TC (or someone) wrote an article saying as much. More hits from Facebook with less trouble.

They closed the comments after articles because trolls ruined it for everyone.

And SAMA and PMs closed for reasons not specifically known to me, but apparently people were using it as a swinger location and (this is my wild guess) as a means to communicate re: steroids, both of which created a huge hassle and potential liability.

All of this. The site’s a shadow of its former self. The sense of community it had once was nice, and I’ve met some great people through here, but the Biotest folks have made clear they’re not going to put any effort into upkeep, so I don’t give a fuck. The PMs being decommissioned is really debilitating and made me care way less about this website and thus the supporting company.

But I will add that I do love the combat forum. Every single one of those guys is great, and it’s the only reason I come here.

No, but the Dog is gone and the attitude/spirit/camaraderie that it engendered is too. The close connection between admins, editors, mods and members is virtually nonexistent also. There’s practically no “tie that binds,” if I may borrow the term from the Christian hymn.

Agreed. The only ties are people that you’ve been friends with - or in my and Push’s case, arguing with - for nearly a decade. (EDIT: OVER A DECADE. Fuck I’m getting old).

There’s no overarching sense of purpose. But I mean, again, fuck it, it’s a website, maybe there doesn’t have to be.

But it was good in its prime. No doubt.

It was good. It really was.

I have made a significant number of friends here and…“enemies,” like you, who really are friends when it comes down to it.

Oh of course. I like you, always have. Even though you don’t know shit about politics.

There were a lot of guys like that haha. But a lot of them are gone too.

Damn you fuckers, makin’ me nostalgic …

The golden era of this forum. Anyways how yah doing push? I miss the tales of push and his exploits

Overweight foreigners? Are you for fucking real? Have you ever heard some of these football players speak, especially the ones who are suffering from dementia at the age of 40? Half of them sound like fucking aliens. They certainly aren’t speaking anything close to the language that you and I speak.

And I laugh at the overweight part. Pablo Sandoval is literally the sloppiest, fattest player in the majors, and there are about half a dozen guys on EVERY team in the NFL that make him look like an Olsen twin.

Your slanderous, socialist, semi-treasonous arguments hold no water.
Sorry for late response I was out killing deer for my freezer.

NFL>Baseball in every TV rating for last 10-15 years.

Nostalgic? Is that some kind of moss or fungi that grows on old things?
Good to see ya man.
