I was never a sports fan. I guess football is one sport that is tolerable to watch but I would not waste time keeping up with stats or watching games on TV regularly.
any other guys here have no interest in sports? why not? do you not like sports at all? only like playing them?

Get that shit outta here! Men who don’t like sports are what’s known as “women”.
I like sports only when I’m there watching them live…even hockey, the sport I love the most is one where I don’t get too excited when I watch it on TV.
I must say that I really can watch World’s Strongest Man quite intensely, if that counts.

honest question: as a non-sports fan, how do you maintain your friendships with other dudes? what’s the subject matter of your conversations with them? (genuinely curious here)

me and my one friend (both of us sport fans) lived with a kid who was not a sports fan at all. I mean the kid would act like he was a sports fan and try to argue calls from an umpire and then 15 min later ask how many balls a pitcher is allowed to throw in baseball before the batter walks…
Anyways, If me and the kid talked, it would usually be about music and school, but he was kinda girly so talking to him was annoying as shit, so i just avoided it. He honestly would feel so left out because me and the other roommate would talk nothing but football during the NFL season an then play northing but madden.

boning hot girls, science, movies, and workout routines, work. and life. also joking around. we are funny dudes
I have never understood the fascination with sports. I can appreciate the level of athleticism and the amount of work that goes into being that good at something, but to get SO involved with it as some do is something I cant relate to. I’m kind of a low key guy though, so thats probably just how I am.
Watching a good highlight reel is about a much as I can get into it… Watching a game for 4 hours and jumping off the couch when someone catches a ball or yelling at the TV? Not so much
The level of fanaticism that people get for “their team” is also quite absurd to me. 90% of the time or more the person is not from the city they are playing for, and the only reason they play there is because of the money or they were basically forced too because they got drafted there. Why such insane devotion? As Jerry Seinfeld said… You’re really just rooting for the clothing.

Mate if the only thing you can converse about with your friends is sports theres either something seriously wrong with you, or something seriously wrong with your friends.
Now I’m curious - do you and your friends talk about anything besides sports?
I’m not a fan of ball games. Combat, gymnastics, acrobatics, parkour… These are things I find fascinating (and also things I practice myself, at least some of them). Watching to teams trying to kick, throw or carry a round soft object somewhere… Nah. My best female friend’s bf is a huge rugby fan (and player), it can be difficult
RE: what do you talk about… I don’t have many friends who like watching sports. They’re all into music, climbing, martial arts, IT… Watching matches on the telly - not so much.
I’ve never been interested in sports but like watching WSM, like Nards. I’ll also enjoy rugby on the TV, but normally only if it’s national games (World Cup, 6 Nations, or some of the South African league games)
Football (soccer, to you chaps) is huge in the UK and Middle East; when people ask you what team you support and you tell them you don’t have any interest in football, they look at you like you’ve just sprouted an extra head. That said, if I’m home I still go to watch the England team lose against, well, everyone; but that’s more for the atmosphere in the pub than anything else.

Seconded, I remember even as a young kid I’d get awkward and embarrassed when someone asked me what team I supported, usually I’d go with United just for an easy way out, but I’d change it up every now and again if I was somewhat sure of what team the other guy supported. I never understood the fanfare for Football, I appreciate that we have history with it and it stems back quite far, but as a sport in and of itself it seems a tad un-engaging. I always hated being in a pub when the England matches were on and feeling out of place, but my personality isn’t one for that kind of environment anyway.
My dad and brother were always huge boxing fans though, and I remember growing up through that and taking great interest in boxing matches, eventually taking it on as a childhood/teenage sport. Sadly by the time I was old enough to have any significant memories, it was in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and way past Tyson’s glory days, something I would have loved to been a part of.
Me too. Complete lack of interest in any sport. I love “strength sports” though if that counts. I could watch a strongman contest or highland games like all day.
I must admit I am not into sports except I like to watch my country kick ass in the winter olympics and the rare occasion they are in the world cup for soccer( 1998 is the last time norway qualified for the soccer world cup ). I do however like to watch strongman, but thats more of a freakshow than a sport in my eyes.

Mine is mostly movies, you spend your time on something so intensely, and let it be known publicly, eventually your friends tend to align more with those interests. You go to the gym you get gym buddies, you talk about films and you get film fans, you’re a musician and you talk to musicians. There are exceptions of course, but at least for me, my closer friends tend to be cinema-oriented, so the conversations revolve around that and we’re all so invested that they never wane.
Politics and religion are the big ones though I guess, almost everyone has an opinion on at least one if not both, and 99% of people are willing to shout that opinion in your face given the green light.
