American basketball players are pussies. That’s the one national team that I can’t bring myself to support.
Expectedly, the Greeks came back from behind to take the win.

It was their back door offense, that did us in.

You think Americans have that much pride in our basketball?
I care about as much about that as I do about our showing in the World Cup.

See, it’s just that your players are good, but I hate when they show off.
That’s why I stopped watching NBA.
I hate constant bragging, banging their chest, etc.
So nothing personal:)
your statement really surprises me. I never thought of that, I was of opinion that you rank basketball close to american football, baseball…

College b-ball - YES! Professional - never. In college hoops, they play within a system or they’re typically off the team. In the NBA, it’s all about the $$$ and the best way to get the $$$ is to exhalt oneself (chest thumping, street antics, etc). It’s a pathetic league imo. The only NBA worth watching is the semi’s and finals and even that only the 4th quarter.

It’s about time the geeks won something. I’ve been waiting all my life for the geeks to stand up and take charge like they are FULLY capable of. I’m glad to see you all agree with me. The geeks will one day rule the world…and I will be their king!!!

Basketball is fairly popular in the US, but nowhere near as big as football or baseball. I personally can’t stand the NBA, but I’ll watch college ball once in a while. Even that I find rather boring. It just seems to me that the only part of the game that matters is the last 2-5 minutes since the score goes back and forth so much. I’ll take hockey, football, rugby, baseball or soccer anyday over basketball
Take a bunch of Greeks who’ve never really played together, put them on a team for a few weeks, and then have them play the American style basketball game. Then you’d have apples to apples.
Or, let the NBA Championship team’s entire roster play. Again - apples to apples.
That being said, the Greek team won the game they were playing. That’s really all there is to say, I suppose.

And still I think that your next team will be completely different than this one.
That, imo, is one of the reasons you didn’t win a title in years. European teams stay together for years (with some substitutions), but your federation keeps sending new teams on every tournament.
To me it looks, like they’re looking for a quick solution which may work, but don’t want to put any effort into forming a team for a longer period of time.

I can’t argue with that. I just wanted someone to recognize that fact. As usual, it?s about $$, and the investments by all parties involved are too large in the NBA for this situation to go in any other direction.
Don’t let people here say B-Ball isn’t important in the US. In certain parts of the country, B-Ball is life. I’m not a big fan of the NBA, either, but a competitive person should feel a little pain when their favorite team/country loses. Even if you don’t like the sport. I hate soccer, but, I hated to see the US team do so poorly in the World Cup. I guess what I’m saying is - This sucks.
who gives a shit …
gather up your 11 best athletes and let’s go head-to-head for some old fashioned-back yard-full contact football … and I’m not talking about futbol, where a bunch of 175 pound guys are running around kickin a round ball.
we’d stomp the dogshit out of all-comers.
Damn, I’m ready for some NFL …

So how is that “no offense”? Seems like you are thumbing your nose to me. I think basketball is stupid but it does suck to lose though. Not that I am losing any sleep over it.
Oh well, I guess I just have to go back to being free, shooting guns, drinking fine Sam Adams beer and fucking women that shave their armpits. sigh God I wish I were European.

Dude!!! You are so far out of touch, it’s pathetic. I had to google (greece basketball) to find out exactly what you’re talking about.
I am willing to bet that the average american has never even heard of the world basketball championship. The NCAA Final Four would be far more known to americans. Just one proud americans opinion.

As far as I can tell, basketball is the third most-popular sport in the U.S. However, the NBA loses fans every year because of selfish players and all that soap opera drama.
We used to care about our Olympic teams in 1992 and 1996. To be honest I think there are some of us, Americans, who are glad to see our own country lose just to make our younger pro players less cocky. I am one of them.

ehh, I personally haven’t cared about international BBall since we got SCREWED in the Olympics against the Russians in 88 (this is also what prompted us to establish the dream team).
Really not a big deal, they will put it all together when it really counts in '08 and bring home the gold.
