What Do You Think?

DylanJ is 230, only 10 lbs heavier than his claimed weight and much more developed. im not tryin to burst anyones bubble but its just not happening that you weigh that much when someone the same height, conditioning and only 10lbs heavier looks much bigger, more than 10lbs.

at the point about ronnie vs mariusz, ronnie COMPETES at mariusz’s walking weight. so having someone at 5% bodyfat at 300 vs someone at 15 is a big difference. so yes, it does mean something.

I’m sorry but you are completely wrong. Anyone who competes in any sport that requires frequent weigh-ins (wrestling, judo, boxing, MMA, etc) knows that it is near impossible to accurately judge a persons weight by just looking. Trying to do so based on only a 2D image is even more futile.

for an easy example of this look at these two photos;

http://mmasplatter.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/tanner2.jpg

which fighter is bigger? Matt Lindland is actually around 15+ pounds heavier than Evan Tanner (RIP). As a lightheavyweight tanner only weighed 192lbs where as Lindland weighed in at 206lbs and was probably heavier by fight time yet both are the same height.

The reason is that we never see the full story when we are looking at someone’s physique. People are 3-dimensional and there is a lot happening beneath the skin that we just can’t see. Also we are conditioned so that we primarily judge someone’s size based on only a few attributes; usually the shape and ratio between certain body parts. Exactly what we look for varies considerably from person to person hence why a guy who look small to one man may look huge to another.

Lindland is a perfect example of this. He is incredibly strong (both in terms of weights and on the mat) and fairly big yet due to his proportions, long limbs and the shape of his muscles he comes off looking lanky and weak. A similar fighter in this regard is Anderson Silva who is also far heavier and stronger than he looks for the same reasons.

I mean this is about physique anyways not weight, I know what I weigh and I have absolutely no reason to deceive people over the internet. I’m just looking for a bit of feedback on my physique. I could give a shit if you think I don’t weigh 210, haha. Whatever man.

i dont think youre trying to decieve people. if youre really 220, then congragulations you hide it very well so if you really do plan on competing its going to suffer for you because youll be going against guys in your weight class who appear much bigger than you.

to keep things relevant, youre in decent shape but obviously you need to be bring up your back. theres nothing else to really say.

edit: i guess you did provide height.

if you have both height and weight statistics combined with photographic evidence you can make an assertion. 220lbs is a lot of weight, even on a 6ft frame its gonna be big.

saying photos are useless is also untrue. you could make the theory that having extra long limbs would provide more weight but his limbs are proportional to his height so thats out.

also when you compare him to other posters on this site who are his same weight/height you notice something is just out of place. DylanJ is 6ft 230, he could step on stage and do well, if not now then in a year tops.

next you have DirtyGerdy who is also 6ft and competes at 200 and walks around in the 210 area…although i may have to double check on this.

youll notice that out of the 3 people jerm just doesnt measure up size wise. i mean why is it that 2 other people of similar weights look so much bigger and developed, i dont think its even physically possible to be 6ft, lean, have no back and still manage to weigh 200lbs let alone 220.

and for the record this just about me proving a point now, nothing to do with rating.

First, I believe he claimed to weigh 210, not 230. We don’t know his bf and he may have a heavier bone structure than dylanj or gerdy. He is carrying enough muscle for a +300 bp and 490 squat and looks like he carries a lot of weight in his lower body, and frankly, 210 is not that much weight.

You are comparing him to bodybuilders, and bodybuilders train to look big.

Do you really think Mariusz walks around at 15% bodyfat?

Mariusz has said that he likes to keep his bf under 10% for both vanity and the speed and agility oriented events.

yeah he does look about 10%. even still, Most times you see Ronnie hes 300+ @ 5% which is still a big deal.

i never said the kid weighed 230, i said dylanj did and is noticeably bigger, moreso than 10lbs.

anyway, you can have your thread back jerm. /hijack

Sorry to continue the hi-jack, but last I checked Pudz. is 315-320. I also read an interview where he claimed less than 7%, though I don’t know if that is true.

hes not a small guy, thats for sure.

and if thats what 300 on 5’11 looks like i guess i got a whole ton of eating and drugs to do cause thats a good look. i mean hes big, but he doesnt look freakish, he just looks big…maybe its cause he isnt all oiled up and 3% bodyfat?
