When i was a 130lb high school freshmen, I apparently had a very distorted understanding of weight. I saw some list that said a 6’ males ideal weight was 190ish. I thought 60 more pounds!? I’d be huge!
Well yesterday the scale finally said 190 after my first ever correctly done bulk. I managed to keep my bodyfat under 15%.
I’ve had this goal for so long, but I’ll be honest, 190 is still a scrawny fucker.
So i’m pretty dissapointed that my goals weren’t all they were cracked up to be.
What do you guys think a respectable weight would be for a 6 foot guy given assuming the bodyfat doesn’t raise to high?

Good job bro, be proud you hit your goals, now set you next goal and hit it hard…[/quote]
What he said.
What you might consider a decent weight at your high will probably be much different than what prof X or that huge bitch bauer might think. Keep gaining weight until you feel that you’re where you want to be.
Well, I recently hit 205 lbs with an okay bodyfat percentage, but at 6’2", that’s also still skinny.
I’d say go for 220, and see how you look there. If you’re content, try cutting to a very lean 200+ and then maybe go for an even higher weight if you’re not happy.
There’s really no hard and fast rule for this. The mirror is usually a better way of measuring process than the scale.
In all seriousness, you’ll need to decide what you are after as far as a look. A fairly muscular look would likely be about 250lbs, whereas a more stereotypical athletic look would likely be about 220lbs.
Obviously, it all depends on where/how you carry the weight.
Congrats on reaching the goal, now set some new ones.
Don’t set any artifical limits. Keep adding muscle, with appropriate leaning out periods [not serious cutting] along the way if that’s the approach you want to take. Keep doing this till you’re happy with where you are. Good job so far.

Good advice here. Don’t set a weight limit, just don’t stop until you get the “look” you want, whatever that may be. A 60 pound gain is nothing to be ashamed of. Keep it up.
You’ve all got good points. I guess i just need to figure out a new goal. I’m not gonna lie, i really don’t know what i want right now. Part of me wants to just get my lifts up and if more mass comes with, great! but the other part still thinks i look skinny and cares more about hypertrophy. I guess until i make up my mind i’ll just try to find a happy medium.
Thanks for the encouragment guys.
Like most people have said, don’t be disappointed. A 60lb gain is a great start.
I’d like to say that 6’0 235lb is ideal, but I just hit that, and as always, think it’s not enough. Now I’m saying 250lbs would be great. I’m not against goals, and I don’t find them limiting. However, when I reach 250, I will re-asses those goals.
I don’t think your long term goal should be a certain number. I think you would be better off wanting to achieve a certain physique as your goal.
However, I see nothing wrong with setting a short term weight gain goal. Now that you’ve hit 190, go for 200. Re-assess. Then go for 220. Re-assess. Take it from there.
Your short term goals of hitting certain weights will lead to you achieving your long term goal of achieving a certain physique.

6’, 200 lbs. and a low bf% looks good. It’s not big, but it’s a good base. I’ve never seen a 6’ tall male weighing 220 at a lowish bf% whom I didn’t consider to be big.
One thing you can do: Look at athletes who are required to weigh in, i.e., boxers and MMA guys. You can sort the fighters by weight at ufc.com. That will give you a feel for what given weights look like on someone your height.

Dude if you’re 190 now and you’re not happy jsut think how shit you must have looked at 130.
By the time you hit 220 or whatever you’ll be looking back at 190 and thinking how did you even think it would be a good weight to get to.
Don’t make limits. Set goals. Break them. Set a new goal.
I know just how you feel, dude. I’m 6’1" and 205-210 and am just starting to look like I lift. But you know, you’ve come a long way from 130, so be proud of that. Whatever you do, keep in mind how hard you worked. You should be proud of what you’ve done so far.
I’d say to hit a lean 220-225ish and see what you want from there. That’s what I plan to do. My goals are strength and to aquire something of a Reg Park kind of look.

You cannot trust those weights because many of them cut water to make weight and actually walk around heavier.
You all have been very helpful. I’m thinking its time to try a slow clean bulk and really focus on bringing up my lifts. Thanks for the advice so far. Heres one more question for you all to ponder.
What are your opinions/experiances with Thib’s truth about bulking article.
I know a lot of skinny guys read that article and started thinking they needed to cut.
But as far as a long term goal, would it be retarded of me to drop down to 10% bf (probably just below 180lbs) and just start a slow clean bulk?
Or am i still skinny enough that i could get away with a long term clean bulk and slowly drop down to 10% while i’m doing it?
In case you don’t wanna scroll back up, heres a reminder, i’m 6’ 190lbs and aobut 15% bodyfat.

I knew someone would mention that, which is why I wrote: “That will give you a feel,” instead of, “That will tell you for certain.”
I think, and I imagine any of the guys on here with a good amount of size will agree, that I get big when I focus on gettting stronger.
I’ve put on 8kg since May, the majority of which has been muscle, through focusing on getting stronger and getting the kcal’s in.
As for whether to cut… Before putting on the 8kg I went from 89kg down to 85kg over about 4-5 weeks and now I’m up at 93.
So from my experience it’s worked. And I think I’ve managed to keep relatively lean.
I’ll upload pic now in a sec so oyu can see what I mean.

i was similarly disappointed when i hit 6’ 210. i… just… wasn’t THAT big. Keep in mind you are much larger than you were, so comparatively your enormous. Imagine someone seeing you for the first time since you were 130, my family is good for this, some of them i only see once a year or less and they have often commented on the changes in my body when i thought i looked essentially the same. Just keep going, you will get there.
