Its not going to turn anyone in Mr O nor does it claim to but come on guys, its not total crap just because a T-Nation author didn’t write it.
No disrespect intended to the authors of this site as theres a wealth of info here but if you’re only open to information from one website, one author or whatever. You’re missing out.
haha just looked at the efore and after pics on the site and well, pretty sure everyones body is within a month of be able to see fully define six packs anyway
they all look like theyve been at concnetration camps, skin and bones, if your fukcing huge and need to be ripped im sure nutrition wise it may be alright but you would probably lose a lot of msucle

That guy looks about 40, and he’s ripped. That’s better than most!
But anyway, I think p90x is ok. I downloaded it to see what it was like - I didn’t pay a fortune for it. The main good thing about it is that it makes people more motivated to work out and makes them stick to the plan. As we know, lack of compliance is the main reason diets and exercise regimes fail.
And IMO, I found some of the workouts quite hard. It’s really about how much you push yourself. You can make it easy or very difficult.
For example the chest and back workout has “how many pullups you can do in 2 minutes” and some of those guys were hitting 25+ in a straight set. I’d bet there’s a lot of people on T-Nation who can’t do that. Like I said, you can make it as hard or easy as you want depending on how much you push yourself.
Also, the “ab ripper x” is pretty challenging to finish in the 20 minutes.
+1
Like I said in the other P90X thread, this program is for a specific goal. If power lifting or elite BB is the goal…this isn’t the program to be on in and of itself. However, it will take Joe ‘Couch Potato’ to Joe ‘above average’ provided he puts the effort into it. Just like any program.
Look at it this way;
Some weights - check
Lots of BW exercises that are down right HARD - check
Pull and chins - check
Cardio to make a grown man cry - check
Good nutrition plan - check
Motivational tools like an on line forum - check
It works if you do, simple as that. I think we need to remember that not everyone wants to look like an elite BB. But a lot do want to be in shape, low BF and have a ripped, somewhat muscular look like the photo on the first page. Don’t knock people for what THEIR idea of in shape is. That guy in the photo has a better physique than most people walking around because he got a program that worked and worked his ass off. Nothing magic. Some use P90X, some use T-Nation, some use Stronglifts…point is to use something that works.
I just started looking at this program and see a lot of things in it that I’ve hardley even done. Yoga, Plyometrics, Kenpo, Stretching, and Core excersises. Yeah, I lift heavy and eat o.k. but I just have size with little definition. Plus there are those that may have completed a bulking cycle and need something to cut up. Or maybe this is something that could cut someone up before a bulking cycle. Am I wrong?
Can’t say i would really reccomend it to anyone who is serious about getting into shape since its only good for 90 days and then you’re on your own.
Actually, you can make this into a yr long program if you wanted…before P90X there is Power90…after P90X there is a ‘PLUS,’ program, then you graduate to the masters series.
I got the Power90 program when my hubby was deployed , and I was home with our newborn and couldn’t make it to the gym. And just this xmas my MIL had no idea what to get me so she got P90X…I appreciate it, but I enjoy going to the gym. I’m certainly not going to knock the program though. And the support is pretty good. There is a whole forum dedicated to ‘P90X’ers.’
Well I gotta say, theres no better time to do this program than now. My gym is littered with people that are tyring to make fitness their New Years resolution. I went in Jan. 5th an let me tell you what… It was so crowded I could not get in a good steady workout. I was like a ping pong ball from place to place. There were bench presses with 4 guys working in with each other! So while the coming months ween out the people that can’t stick to the gym, I’m gonna try it and not spend 2 hours of my night after work standing around at the gym.
As others have mentioned, it’s a structured program of predominantly calisthenics. Run some of the exercise lists as a 28 round HIIT program with your own timer (using 10-15 sec breaks) and you will see how tough the program can be. Definitely not for size, but useful no doubt for creating endurance in functional movements. For the average fat assed American with a New Years resolution, I’d certainly prefer they did this as opposed to clogging up my gym every January.
heres what i think, it might be a good program to shredd bodyfat… anyone who thinks it is going to make you into some sort of athletic prodigy are just uninformed.
it could be a helpfull tool in ADDITION to normal progressive resistance.
but to say its not useful at all is kindof jumping to conclusions too.
The best thing about this program, I did it for a week just to see what all the hype was about (buddy gave me the dvd’s) and it does ensure that people keep a decent pace. Someone said earlier that a lot of newbies quit because they don’t see results within the first couple months.
I saw a difference after my first couple of months training, granted I drastically changed my diet and doubled my calorie intake. But if newbies are going to the gym and don’t see ANY results for the first couple months then they either are lacking intensity or their diet needs to be altered. This program gives them the tools to do that.
They only need to follow it, which is much easier theb actually taking the time to learn proper diet and push themselves hard in the gym everyday without assistance. Just my 2 cents
