i want to hear what fellow T members think about it. looks like a scam, the day 0 and day 90 pics.
Its a good way for normal tubby people who sit on their ass all day in an office to get in better shape.
Nothing more.
I look at it in the same way i do Crossfit.
If you arent really training for any specific goal, but want to be in “decent” shape, then its a useful tool.
But i would hope its not the goal of many people here to get in decent shape by doing curls and lunges with elastic bands.

I have a friend who bought it and I checked it out. It is nothing magic, but it is not a scam either. You workout six times a week for about an hour a workout with some fairly intense calisthenics. It also has a fairly detailed diet plan. If you had no experience just wanted to be “in shape” it would be good, if a little repetitive.
I don’t think the band and dumbbell workouts will build the mass and strength that most people hear are looking for. If you look at the before and after photos in the manual, almost all of the result seems to be from fat loss.
Its a program to get ripped and a beach body. To say its a scam is a bit harsh. I have done some of the program and it will kick your ass. Its completely different than lifting weights. It works your body in a totally different way.
Its an awesome program to use as your cardio routine. Keep hitting the weights hard but use P90x too.
U WILL BE SHOCKED AT HOW WELL BODY WEIGHT EXERCISES GET U RIPPED.
and about before and after pics
You can see a huge difference with just a hair cut, tanning, shaving body hair, lighting, make up, a smile instead of a grimace, the distance the picture is taken from, and flexing or sucking in the gut.
Add in water manipulation, and you wouldnt really need 90 days to make a person look different, when all of the above could be done in a matter of hours.
also, sure some of these guys end up ripped, but is ripped at 145 pounds being an average height really your goal ?
Leave this to the “average” public. There are plenty of better routines here on T-Nation.
I would like to say ditto what ws4jb said x1 billion.
Those are newbie gains…I don’t think I’ll have much luck swinging around 30 pounds dumbells for all my arm/shoulder/back exercises…I’ll get better results in the gym
Do it if you want to look like this.
That guy looks about 40, and he’s ripped. That’s better than most!
But anyway, I think p90x is ok. I downloaded it to see what it was like - I didn’t pay a fortune for it. The main good thing about it is that it makes people more motivated to work out and makes them stick to the plan. As we know, lack of compliance is the main reason diets and exercise regimes fail.
And IMO, I found some of the workouts quite hard. It’s really about how much you push yourself. You can make it easy or very difficult.
For example the chest and back workout has “how many pullups you can do in 2 minutes” and some of those guys were hitting 25+ in a straight set. I’d bet there’s a lot of people on T-Nation who can’t do that. Like I said, you can make it as hard or easy as you want depending on how much you push yourself.
Also, the “ab ripper x” is pretty challenging to finish in the 20 minutes.

Why somebody would want to go through all of the trouble of dieting and take that much time to do what are essentially pussy workouts is beyond me. Would it not be just as easy to take that hour each day and hit the gym with a decent split routine, which would provide much better results?
It’s only a pussy workout if you ARE a pussy.
As I said, “how many pullups can you do in 2 minutes” can be very hard or very easy depending on how much effort you put in.
You could have a pussy deadlift and squat workout session too… it’s all dependent on effort.
Got it from a friend last year, did it last year with successful (some might say amazing) results. It’s not a scam.
Like anything else in life, you’ll get out of it what you put into it. The only advantage of ‘systems’ like P90X, et al, is they provide structure to the user - THAT is really what you’re paying for. Tell you what to eat, when to train, what exercises to perform, etc. It’s also a great jumping off point to educate the person about what it really takes to burn a TON of BF in a short period of time.
P90X is basically continuous HIT with a little weight training mixed in. You won’t get big, but you will burn a TON of fat. I say save your money, learn what it takes (all the info is right here) to burn BF, and go do it. If you’re looking to get "BIG"er, P90X is NOT the way to go.

I PROMISE you, they are not “pussy” workouts. You will KNOW that you trained after every session, assuming you give a shit enough to do it correctly and with enough intensity. Your remarks are geared toward someone who has different goals than the typical P90X user.

How many have YOU sold on bodybuilding.com?..
What? Just because I think something isn’t a pussy workout, I must be selling it?
And what I said is perfectly true. You can make p90x very easy or very difficult. You could also make squats and deadlifts very easy or very difficult. It’s really up to the individual and how much effort they are willing to put in.
Someone could follow the best workout ever designed by Thibs and still have no results.
Agree with IBMS and jimboman. P90X is a good plan that provides structure in training along with a diet program and ways to keep the workout challenging over the 90-day period.
Although it doesn’t have heavy squats, deadlifts, benches and other traditional lifts, it does test your strength and strength endurance.
The keys behind P90X are the fast-paced, intense workouts performed one-hour per day, six days a week (studies show that you need at least five hours of exercise per week for results) along with an easy-to-follow nutritional plan.
I’d have to say that the majority of people who want to have good conditioning and be lean and somewhat muscular (but not necessarily strong and big like a bodybuilder) should consider P90X.
As many people don’t know what to do or how to do it properly so a plan like P90X would give them better results than what they will follow from a web site or magazine.
And let’s be honest, most people want to look just like the after photos of the people who have used P90X and rave about it.
Sure, they may not be very muscular or strong, but they still look and feel better than most of the people I’ve seen who say they train hard.
loooool some guy came up to me at my work last weekend (a bar/grill) and hes all drunk coming up like he knows “ooh i saw you at the gym” then of course as all drunk people do with me, he starts going off about exercise and technique. he starts talking about p90x im like oh my god get this guy the fuck away from me.
p90x is retarded. if you want to be in OK shape but feel your self esteem drop everytime a guy who REALLY lifts weights walks through the door then go for it. im sure you can impress a ton of high school chicks with it but you can impress more with actual muscle, and if you arent banging high school chicks then wtf r u doing?
I gotta say, just the sounds of ‘how many pullups can you do in 2 minutes’ goes against everything I do to train for size. I intentionally go slower, and slower, making the msucles work harder.
Sure, I see the usual idiots in the gym jumping n jerking all over the place doing ‘pullups’, but even the ones with a modium of definition, have no muscle size to speak of. All this program sounds like to me is intense cardio with some dumbells. Not bad for someone who’s used to doing nothing, but nothing that will make anyone look like a muscled gym rat.
Just my thoughts.
