Doing a little research of athletes and just wondering what you do when you can’t make it to the gym. What do you do? Where do you go? What “tools” do you use? Let me know.
Go run really fast.

Sprinting or long distance?
Hill Sprints or regular sprints
Long distance sucks.
I drink the old no. 7

Isn’t there research that says sprints are actually better for overall endurance, or am I mistaken?
Eh I’m not sure about the research aspect but from personal experience, when I ran longer distances (3+ miles) for a prolonged period of time–so like say 15 miles a week…even though I compensated for the calories via carbs/protein, I visually looked worse-but that could be from other things such as not scaling back on lifting volume enough/elevated cortisol…etc.
However, when I do things like 100M sprints or hill sprints, my body seems to look better. I believe it deals with the body partitioning nutrients better as well as dropping un-necessary weight in the form of fat (I think there’s scientific evidence to this). But the dropping of un-necessary weight makes sense since you use a lot of muscle to literally burst to a high speed for a fairly short amount of time. The body wants the muscle because its required for the movement, but it doesn’t need fat because fat is stored energy, whereas sprints don’t require the need for those stored calories.
Plus sprinters have some bad ass physiques unlike distance runners. (of course drug use plays a role but that’s another topic)
Sorry for the rant.

No, it certainly helps with the research that I am doing. What probably happens with sprints over long distance runs is that your body switches between energy systems.
depends on your goals, training for anything in particular? or just to be in shape?
help mama carry them groceries
I just run when I can. On weekends I like to run down the avenue till I’m really tired, then I just run back home.
Seems to be a lot of people who enjoy running. Any other options?
Prowler/sled
Lots of options…
Carry heavy stuff
Sled/prowler work-wish I could get a prowler
Waterbury PLP program–minimal equipment is needed
You’ve been asking some open-ended/interesting questions, what exactly are you doing with the information you are gathering?

A fine option, I love pushing the prowler. Problem is I have to go to the gym to get it, your lucky if you have your own. Props.

we had to do some of that in the fire academy, really kills your upper back. for me though i get all of my strength stuff done in the gym, i prefer to do speed work and cardio outside the gym mostly

I’m sayin if there is no possible way to get to the gym…
I like go into the woods and wrestle bears.
Or if there are no bears up for the challenge I’ll make a third world gym (look up the articles) and do some jumps, sprints, pullups, dips, carry stuff etc
