I can hit 225 strict for 3- 235-240 with Bad form…But I have been stuck at these numbers for longer than I’d like to admit. Can’t seem to increase past. 215 feels light, 225 feels like I’m holding a damn truck.
Geez man there are some strong pressers here.
I do MPs primarily as a bench assistance exercise but I can’t say personally that I am sure it has actually been of help to my bench. I like doing them with a closer grip for a more tricep emphasis.
I have hit 65 kg x 6 seated fairly easily a few months ago at 70 kg bodyweight, hit a 70x3 standing with decent form at a similar time.
For kicks I have done 30 a side on a smith (not sure what the bar weight it is on it) for a good few reps. It’s a bit too easy on the smith really, I find.
My current bench max is 105, but I am about 2 kg heavier.
I have always thought I was weak in the chest.
Is there any reason you guys train this lift in such low reps / even shoot for heavy singles?
300 push press.
I don’t know what my military press is but I’m pretty sure it sucks balls.
IDK what my max is, I haven’t really trained it. Today in the Gym I standing pressed 135 from the squat rack; some jimmy had it at my eye level to “improve” his squat he says. He was only moving like 3in and w/135 idk what he was hoping to accomplish. Any way 135 seemed fairly easy, I’ll get back to you.
(the reason I tried is that I recently read this article: Strength Standards: Are You Strong?
