Yet another strength to weight thread but I have taken a new interest in overhead pressing and really am curious as to what some people on here can do. I never see anyone in my gym doing them so I really don’t have a good gauge.
I’ll start with my 5 rep max because I have never maxed out on these. I mean strict military press from clavicles to lockout and no push press.
I’m 6’2" 200 and my best is 165x5. I’d really like to get to 185x5 at this bodyweight but I’ve been plateud here for a few months now.
yea i just went down and maxed out, apperently i didnt weigh 162 but more around 165, my scale kind of sucks and is hard to read, but my max was 160 so i guess i am good around the bodyweight ratio…

As for the seated military press, I can hit 405 for 1. normally work up to 315 for a set of 10.

thanks!!
everything I do, I do to increase my 1RM bench. push presses and militarys have helped a lot.
What did you do to get them to that weight to begin with? I know size has a big role in it, but did you cycle shoulder exercises for M.E. or something else?
i must be doin something wrong or im just not pushing myself hard enough. i do 4x6 of 115 and i weigh 190. but then again when i do them i do military press, behind neck press, military, behind neck, etc for 6 reps back and forth.
Havn’t done any serious pressing in a couple of years, so at the moemnt I’d probably be weaker at a heaver body weight lol! Mind you last summer I pb’d my seated dumbell press having not done them in a year. I find my bench press training does help or maitain my overhead pressing
