Westside Training

I was wondering how many of you train Westside? I just started about four weeks ago and I love it. I just got some bands and am really enjoying them. How many of you guys train this way and do you do it year round or just in cycles?

I train westside most of the time. When I am on steroid cycle to add lbm I follow different protocols. I love westside, it is very flexible and allowes me to add my favorite exercises. The only problem is that I train alone, so it takes time to set up the bands and then I constantly get the ‘he must be crazy’ looks from other guys.

i’ve been training westside for over a year now. i’m also a competive powerlifter so the program works well into my goals. you can see posts of my workouts and others at www.michiganpowerlifters.com.

I’ve been on a westside routine about three months and I’m definately seeing great gains. I’m not using chains/bands I’ll add those later. (btw. I’m usually in lurker mode)

I train Westside style with some Davies mixed in (GPP, sprints, odd lifts, agilities, Olympic lifts, etc.) since I play d-1aa football. Works well for me however I don’t have a partner yet, but my boy Deuce is planning on joining me in the winter so I will finally have a reliable spotter. Picking up some chain after the season, btw I plan on continuing Westside in-season with some of the inseason football guidelines in the articles at elite.

I’d like to hear more feedback as well. I’m slated to start westside training in the fall (with the start of school), and I’m really looking forward to it. Anyone care to share some of their strength gains their first couple of weeks/months?

Pete ive visited your site. Actually spent about thirty minutes looking at pictures the other day. I think westside is exactly what i was built for. I think ive gotten slow from all those “bodybuilding” type programs and it has really slowed my strength and mass gains. I was built to move fast i believe and so far its working great. I really like the fact that you get to rotate max effort exercises so you dont build up any anxiety over trying to top yourself each time. to me thats the best part.

on every max effort workout i try to lift more than i did the last time on the same exercise. it may be several months before i return to the same exercise for upper body, but i alwways try to set a record. sometimes it takes a while. it took about 3 months to break a pr by 5 pounds in the floor press for me. but i love the variety.
