Goldberg: Golden advice. And exactly what I was looking for.
Damn, Titan takes FOREVER? I wanna start playing around in the suit/shirt ASAP. I’ll go check out the Metal site. I’ve looked around before, but this time I’ll know what to look for.
Also, I’m thinking of prioritizing chest. Meaning, a chest (bench) session twice weekly for the next four weeks at least.
To clear something up once and for ALL
You don’t bring the bar low to the upper abs in training! In training the bar should be brought to normal postion and if anything high with the elbows tucked.
This is only for when you are going for a max with the shirt or in a comp.
JA
I bring the bar about an inch or two below my nipples in training and try to go lower in competition or with a shirt on.
Greek: Awesome man ! Thought you might of given up on westside, and hitup something like EDT or something
I’ll take some pictures as soon as I get one. I’m looking a lot bigger while on westside, and the main reason for coming to westside for to get strong as hell, not big. Pretty nice byproduct of this training.
JackAss. Glad you mentioned that. I know some people have been probably training that way. Glad you cleared that up on this thread.
Thank you Jackass, for that clarification.
BTW: It still feels awefully weird to say that…:-))
No problem class.
Next week were going to talk about Goldies nipples. Goldie bring in your favorite butter [my fav is mango] for a lather.
Till next time

equipment- I like the High performance HD blast single ply for those that compete in Single Ply feds. I have got as much as 50lbs out of mine. You guys should check out METAL MILLITA - BIll Crawford Shirt Work, you shirt total will fly up. Right now I am trying a few diffrent squat suits for my meet in December. I have tried the single ply Hard Core from Inzer and had to bring my stance in (got some decent carryover). So I am going to try to get the MEATAL IPF V squater and squat and dead in it to see if i like it. I pull sumo so I may take Goldbergs advice and try the Inzer Z suit but I going to try to pull in the MEATL IPF V first. I may do a meet in November for warmup to get all my gear issues worked out. Equipment it is a bitch but it is by far worth it. I would say the only thing I change about the Westsdie system is I incorperate gear into my training about once amonth so I can messs with it and perfect it.
Keep workig hard Big martin
Landon,
Naw I’m not giving up on Westside at all.
Westside is the best side.
I like the fact that I can get big and very strong. Strength is addictive to me. I’m here to stay.
Besides, that’s the beauty of Westside, I could add in anything I want in my supplemental or accesory work (i.e. EDT) if I wanted.
I usually do more BBer type stuff after my DE or ME part anyway. I just make sure I’m out in an hour tops.
Big Martin-
Regarding the shirt…I use an Inzer double denim (as if Patricia’s post with my PMs didn’t clear that up). It’s very possible that I have 405 in me, as I have yet to miss an attempt with this shirt on (either in the gym or in a meet). The reason I haven’t attempted it yet is because I got the shirt so close to my last meet, and I haven’t really been able to fit in a “test” day in the gym with it without compromising recovery close to a meet.
Perhaps I’ll give 405 a go on my 3rd attempt next weekend if all goes well.
Also, what do Westsiders think about military or behind the neck presses? I don’t ever see them prescibe direct shoulder work really…
Hey!
did anyone read that “peaking on demand” article I posted a link to here?
it has the answers to your CNS burnout questions. as steve says, after a few weeks, there is a burnout and you need to cut back. so why wait for the burnout? cut back before that!
I feel that (at least for me) westside combined with russian periodization (i.e planned waving of training parameters for waving of overall intensity) would be much better then “ME every time, till you cant.” I dont wont to reach that CNS burnout stage, it causes me to be sluggish in my everyday life and miss training sessions.
JMO
S-man.
greek,
maybe every 3-4 weeks I might do a overhead movement, but really there is no need too. It’s typically too much weight, and could seriously jerpordize your training if it’s kept up. Again, your getting a lot of delt work.
If I’m doing board presses on ME days, I’ll may do a overhead, or heavy front raises. If I’m doing reverse band presses, I might not even do front delts. Same goes for DE bench. If I do any front delt work, I’ll have a 3x8-10 light workset. I always will hit rear delt pretty heavy, and heavy side delt about every other ME or DE bench.
Glute i think better than that would be to have day where you rep out on db presses instead of doing a max effort movement. max effort day is supposed to be max effort.
Hey, just thought I let you people know that Ko and I are meeting Ryan Kennelly later today.
Goldie, Big Martin, and Steve,
you guys do little overhead pressing work as well?
Not to so sound BBish but don’t you feel you’re neglecting those delts? (At least the medial part?) or overhead pressing strength?
Front gets hit from all the pressing and rear would be getting hit from all the rowing.
Patricia,
Make sure to ask him 1000 questions, and post all answers right here too!

want to be strong. westside style. going to school soon and was going to create my own program. this thread got me fired up for a whole different idea. does a program from tate exsist on this site for a beg. west sider? i love to deadlift!! also love my captains of crush gripers! this was a damn long thread, glad i made it through. where should i begin??? rob, h
Glute- My situation is a bit different than most in that I simply CAN’T do any overhead pressing. I have a torn labrum in my left shoulder that prevents me from pushing any substantial weight over my head (at least until I have surgery to fix it).
Even so, I don’t feel like I am missing out on much, at least not yet. I am able to comfortably work in the planes of movement that I will be performing my three lifts in, and am still able to give my medial delts some work through various raises. Sometimes I will also give them minimal work with dumbell cleans and presses (twenty lbs. is tolerable to press overhead). When I think that medial delt strength is my major limiting factor when benching, then I may have some issues to deal with as I might want to include overhead pressing more regularly. Then again, this may never happen.
As I’ve said before, most of the guys here only do an overhead pressing exercise once every three to four weeks, and usually rely on raises for medial delt work. It definitely doesn’t seem to be holding them up in any way, and I can’t say that it’s holding me up, either.
i usually do lateral and rear raises during most upperbody workouts. Get that bodybuilding shit out of your mind. Ive never gotten anything out of overhead pressing so i dont do it. I know another guy who isnt big on direct shoulder work. His name is Poliquin.
Overhead pressing…I feel is ok for beginers, but once you really start using big weights on max bench day my shoulder gridle took a beating. I just fell like any more shoulder work would compromise my recovery. I feel the best front delt exerscice is Dumbell FLoor press. I like 5 sets of 12 reps about once a month after my dynamic session. hope this helps Big martin
