500 + posts on westside. The truth will set you free. Before I leave for vacation, a westside thougth. Dave Tate said that LouiI get rolling do those good mornings listeneninge is now into gangster rap and hip hop. I watched the seminar tapes and wouldn’t you know, Loiue was quoted as saying," I put on DMX get rolling doing good mornings, I leave and feel like doing a drive by."
For those that know him, or have his tapes, friggin hilarious. We all can hope to squat 920 at over 50.

Doogie- Work up to a near max after dynamic day, but dont fail hit a few singles at 85-95% do this once or twice a month, but dont over do it. and start doing low box squats with a safety squat bar on max eff day this will also help…Good Luck Big martin

Louie is one of the funniest people ive ever seen on tv. Hes a no bullshit kind of guy from what i can tell. The amount of comedy, intentional and unintentional, in special strengths is enormous.

WTF?

I tried a new ME bench movement today…decline rack lokcouts/presses.

Is there any merit in doing these?

The funny thing is after I maxed out in this movement I tried to do some 5 reps on regular flat bench and couldn’t even get 1 rep with out assistance using a weight that I normally get 7 times? It felt like I was trying to push the weights towards my face.

Anybody ever experience something like this? Would doing decline movements some how affect the regular bench in a negative way??? It was disturbing…

Also, thers is no possible, feasible, safe way for me to do floor presses at my gym. I thought of everything, it’s not gonna happen. No cage, no stands, no low boxes, etc.

Goldie, looked at your bench from the last competition. You dont arch much  and need stronger front delts.
That sticking point is very pronounced. and your goodmorning looks damn painfull  but I havent done them with chains before.

GB, how about not using a box at all? I read at article at EFS that recommends DE squat with no box if youre a westside beginner and do not intend to compete.

opinions?

My opinion? Use the box at parallel like they say. I think you are talking about the Joe Average article. I dont agree with much of what they say. I like what they say about equipment and thats about it. Raise your box to the recommended height. Do it today. Dont continue to discuss it. Then after a couple of months, you arent faster and stronger then do what you want. I thought in the beginning that i needed a lower box. I kept raising it because i kept having hip problems finally i found a depth i could squat comfortably at and low and behold it was the depth i was told to squat to in the beginning.

Cycomike-Should i take a bigger arch. Ive been playing with different setups trying to get the one that feels right. In my first meet i put my feet more under me more and got a better arch. I definitely need more delts. Along with everything else.

Thanks, GB.

I want to sum up my progress so far:
Im doing staley’s “periodization that works” which is westside like but incorporates o-lifts, for 5 weeks, in one week I’m finishing a cycle and changing to proper westside

all in Kilos
bench started 120 now 135 will try 140.
incline bench stated 80K now 110K
Squat strated 180+ to parallel but with swaying and very slow. I will try 180 again but with better form.
DL started 140, will try 160.

power snatch stated 40K now 67.5K
power clean stated 70K now 90K.

S-man

Goldie, Landon, Steve, or BigMartin,

could any of you make anything from my question about 5 posts up?

Bigger arch, but practice it well b4 competition. The metal militia website has a good description of it all, as well as ryan K’s pvc pipe system work well. I like swiss balls and medicine balls, but have been getting better.
As for needing more of everything, I think we all do. I did pullthrus last nite for the first time in ages, now I walk funny

The only problem with when i arch is cramping. This could severly limit my deadlift.

I have a ME question. It is advised that you change ME exercises every 1-3 weeks, with experienced lifters needing to change every week, and less experienced lifters able to “get away” with 3 weeks.

Is there any drawback for a less experienced lifter to go ahead and change ME exercises every week, or should they take advantage of every week that they can improve the same lift?

i changed every week from the very beginning. Go middle of the road and do it for two weeks.

irondoc = fitone?

I think so.

GreekDawg- I read your post and i dont think you should worry that much…It could have been many things, tired and fatigued triceps…your cns was tanked, you were just having a bad day…these happen to me 2 or 3 times a month.

I have a few questions
A. what max effort movements for bench, squat, dead can you do??

B. Are you training the exact westsdie 4 day systems??

C. do you have gear such as safety squat bar or a camberd bar??

Awnswer these for me and I can help you??

I like decline presses with diffirent grips and decline angles and reverse bands for max eff work…but decline lockouts I feel are more asistant work…

Awsnswer these questions for me and I can really analyze your program, recovery, and cns fatigue…Big Martin

I used to cramp, but like most things you just have to work with it.
Either that or really strengthen the delts

Big Martin,
Thanks for giving my question a shot…
A. what max effort movements for bench, squat, dead can you do??

Well, I’ll put it like this I have a squat stand, box, flat bench, incl, decline, deadlift platform with pins but NO power rack. I can do partial bench presses using the squat stands.

B. Are you training the exact westsdie 4 day systems??

Yes

C. do you have gear such as safety squat bar or a camberd bar??

No, no gear at all…bare bones.
