you’re only 2 hours away from albany’s strongman. Going 90-95mph. And that’s a lota spittin time to make weight.

90-95mph is not a problem, especially if I take my bike.

Last time I listened to your spitting advice, I came in at 234 for the 242 weight class…No more making weight for a while.

I’d love to get involved with strongman, but I would certainly want to get some training under my belt first, just because I have some old joints (I can now officially post in the over 35 lifter forum), I’d like to get comfortable with the apparatus first.

One of the guys from my first meet this year does strongman, and he offered to have me come down and train with him…his friend has a complete setup at his house. Unfortunately he was not at the last meet I did, and I don’t have his contact info, but it’s a real possibility in the future.

Ha guess I stepped into that one, I wouldnt say either your likely Flat pressing more then me (which aint saying much av ALL), Just seemed the F squat could easily come up quite a bit with just a few session and aid you a ton

Keeop it up

Nice PR’s bro.

I say stick with those front squats a bit. With them being that close top your pressing moves in short time your likely to make great progress

thanks Phill, I was thinking about it and realized I had a mental error and it was really 220, kinda pisses me off but oh well, still good progress and still a no drop weight and distance PR

two weeks from now I plan on doing 240 for 50ft so no big deal.

have you seen the pipe and bolt farmers article? you can make a set like that for pretty cheap and no welding.

Or you could get 90 bucks and just drive down to Alan’s house

I think for DE Upper I am going to do log clean and press at 75% 8 sets of 3 reps cleaning each rep.

I am still very fast at 75% any less weight would seem silly to me, cleaning each rep will help me with conditioning which is always needed!

[/quote]
Have to hat those damn math errors do that shhit as well during training youll nail it

Yhea think ill be driving to Alans for a real log before long but called my steel worker buddy just post training and got on his ass either get em done of give me the stuff so I could finish welding. Anyay they should be done tomorrow

need to get rolling on them this is an endurance type event all the way acrooss need to work on speed etc. One bonus isd Ive been working construction daily out inn the heat and i will be a hot SOB in Nebraska mid July should heat being a bit accustomed to it. still need to work on it. Log will kill me the rest just see how I can do Nothing really fittied to me heavy DLing etc but need the experience Prob best show for a come bck from an injury

Good plan on the log Need to do a LOT of that myself just learn to push press again was getting better dont even have it now

You just missed a comp in Mass last weekend I think it was there are a lot more in your area. That albany one is light and would be a great way to get feet wet

Hey Modi you will want to make 231 for strongman so a little more spittin and your good to go!

I am pretty sure there are a few groups out in MA should be pretty easy to find if you want.

Got to love welders! friend of the family said they where going to make me some farmers, a log, etc last December, well… I just bought a log and farmers from Alan a few months ago and should have done it in December when I had the money!

Hurt my progress big time, oh well.

Uh, yeah, I’m kinda heading away from 231, heading towards 250 right now, but trying to keep it as clean as possible. I’d like to put on another 10lbs or so, and then try to make 242 if I decide to compete at the AAU World’s in October.

I’ve got to keep an eye out for these meets. Is there a good site to go to for a schedule?

For the record, I’m not planning on doing the Albany meet, I tried going to their website, but couldn’t find any information about the meet, weight/lifts, etc.

Do you have any info?

Bench 135 x 10
Rev Grip Bench 135 x 5 / CG bench 135 x 5
185 x 3
195 x 3
205 x 2
225 x 1
205 x 2
205 x 3 [PR volume]

DE Bench 135 lbs + #2 Bands - (8 x 3)

Tate Press
35 x 15
40 x 3 - WTF!?!
35 x 11
35 x 10

1-Arm Cable Rows
120 x 10 [PR reps]
120 x 8
120 x 8
120 x 8

Warmup/Prehab
#2 Band Pistons - 50
Shoulder Horn 15lbs. - 2 x 15
Sup Grip Face Pulls 60lbs. - 2 x 12

Notes:
I’ve been part of a 2 day LAN party. Computer gaming NERDS UNITE! Friday night I only had about 2 hours sleep. This made the Saturday workout rough. DE bench felt slow so I dropped 10lbs on it. I can’t wait to get off work today so I can make a B-line for bed.

I am thinking of switching to a modified two day West Side full body routine so that I have more time for other sports.

Basically my planis like this

First Training Session - ME Squat and DE Bench. All assistance exercises will done for only about three sets to keep training time within an hour since I will be doing both upper body and lower body

Second Training Session ME Bench and DE Squat. Same for assistance exercises as before.

Will this slow my progress a lot ?

Currently my numbers are

Weight : 120 pounds
Bench Press 154 pounds
Squat: 209 pounds
Deadlift: 230 pounds

My eventual target is to Bench Press 22 pounds and squat 300 pounds. I was thinking maybe I should continue with a four day west side for another year or can I move to a two day westside without slowing my progress too much since after all I am only reducing the volume of assistance exercises ?

I wouldn’t cut down to 2 days per week if you really are trying to bring your numbers up. I don’t see how you could get in enough work in 2 one hour sessions, especially if you are resting long enough during your ME work.

I don’t know what your schedule is like, but I would try to find the time to fit in the extra 2 lifts.

Also, you may be better off with a combination of ME and RE work right now, and save the DE for later down the road.

What about 3 days lower ME upper ME and a day for ACC work? Like Phill does?

I did something similar for awhile and made good gains

Thatd be the clas Im in signed up for right no think I just make it at over 231 put another 5-10 in the next three weeks I hope and go slow from there I figure I could cut for this but hell Im just getting rolling the extra weight will do me good no reason to oput ill body under any further stress.

Plus the 201-230 class lifts the exact same loads in meet as do 231 - 265 just you lift against bigger lifters so… Just get er done do what I can and wont have to worry about making weight just eat and get stronger.

Works me but I also have an event day but that could be the OP’s sport dedicated day

Phill

okay, okay… I’m really BEHIND in this thread. It really is A PAIN IN THE ASS to be so BEHIND but answer me this. what is up with Phill’s ass pain? I’m, like, 3 or 4 pages behind and I am way too lazy to go back and read it all. This isn’t some sort of experimental rectal training that you’ve gotten in to, is it?

Anyway, I’m back on schedule and I trained with two guys today. They made it through the first third of the session before they were done.

Accessory day- RE

T-bar rows with barbell in the corner
1 x 10
2 x 8
3 x 6
4 x 6
5 x 6
6 x 6
7 x 6
8 x 6
9 x 8 i think this was a PR but my training log is so dusty, I couldn’t quite read it

drop set
7 x 8 6 x 13 5 x 20 4 x 33

shoulder circuit

just a bunch of light crap for a lot of reps.

preacher dumbell hammer curls
40 x 8
60 x 8
80 x 8
40 x 23 went to complete failure

cybex bicep curl - one arm at a time
one drop set
60 x 16 50 x 23 40 x 37

forearm work and calf work.

tomorrow will be the first lower day in two weeks. should be fun. i’ll be really interested to see if the guys show up tomorrow.

I definitely can find time for two more training sessions per week it is just that I would prefer to use the time for other types of sports as ultimately I am just using strength training to support my interest in my other sports. I am not really asking for a lot of increase in my
numbers. Just an increase in 50% of my squats in a year. I have seen people achieve a 100% increase in their squat in a year and hence I was thinking it might be possible for me to achieve the same progress with twice a week training
