Westside/PLing Training Thread

Thanks everyone who watched the video! Glad you all enjoyed it!

I hate to get too off topic, but I figured since Meat had a little trouble dealing with my man-riding, that I’d post another sketch with the opposite in it.

EDIT: NOT WORK SAFE!!!

Now you all know me a lot better.

On a related note, I’m feeling pretty beat up so I might take it really easy this week. Lower back is sore, legs still sore from the Tabatas on Thursday (3rd day), and I’m having a bit of a headache as well. We’ll see what happens.

-Matt

Note: My temp is almost 100, I’m gonna try and get some good rest tonight.

Did a bunch of yard work today, and a couple sets of shoulder width chin ups, got an easy 8 full ROM reps with a full hang at the bottom each set.

Pretty suprised by that, always sucked at pullups/chinups I think Its becuase I ussaly do them after heavy deadlifts or something.

I needed to just get some extra moving in today, I go nuts without any sort of physical activity, maybe it will help me sleep? One can hope.

Holy crap. I kind of feel dirty for watching that. Funny shit, but the funniest thing was the expression on my wife’s face when I was explaining what I was watching. Rest, stay strong, and make silly f-er’s like me laugh, dude.

Just a note to say I registered some domain names the other day and I will be building a website in the next couple months, more just a personal thing. Should be good I knew a good amount of HTML when I did this sort of thing when I was 13-16 but will have to relearn everything…

Name of website www.justsquat.com  not active I like the name though!

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. I’m just competing in OL at the Games. I’ve never lifted in a PL comp but, if I ever do, it will be a raw comp. I might stir things up a bit squatting OL style in a PL meet. As far as training goes, I will be posting tonight.

James

Right on, I will be real interested to see how you train for olympic lifts, as they are something I plan to use more of in my training.

06/04/07 - Squat (ME)

A) 14" Box Squat
barx10
135x10
135x10
225x10
275x8
315x5x5 (PR)

B) 17" DB Stepup
80’s x12!!! (GPP)
85’s x10!!! (“”")

C) Pullups (Medium Overhand)
13 (PR)
13
10

D) DB Pullovers
70x12
80x12
80x12

E1) Hanging Leg Raise Rollups
12
10
10 diag (no roll)

E2) Rope Crunch
90x12
90x10
90x10 diag

My back still felt tight before I started today, but warmed up nicely. Box Squats felt explosive until 4th set and then still felt strong, but not as explosive. I really feel like I’m starting to make progress with these and definitely see the carryover to regular squats as well.

Stepups were ridiculous. I didn’t know my pulse went that high. Can’t wait to bring supplemental work back down into the single digits for reps!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Matt that was some funny shit, Titanc playing in the backround was the clincher and at the end when you pulled the tape out was classic.

I guess I should have warned that it’s not work or wife-safe.

Hey, I just watched the video.

Here’s what I said about Matt on 5/19:

"First, let me say that I had the opportunity to meet Matt in person for the first time and compete with with him (different weight classes), and he is truly a stand up guy. I knew that from the thread, but he is a genuinely good person. "

Scratch all of that. Matt is sick and wrong. I feel dirty for watching that. I thought this was a family friendly thread, and now we have resorted to watching vcr sex?!? Just kidding, good stuff Matt. Although a little warning would be nice for the workplace!

Nice work on that 5x5 bro

Hey, I thought we agreed not to let anyone into the secret society who posted in kilos. This has been the source of much frustration to those of us who are too lazy to convert to lbs.

Just kidding, welcome back to the thread. Nice job on the PR. As long as you are always pushing yourself, you are in the right place.
