OK, so I got the book today and read through it. Question: are you supposed to do the sprints/prowler on days you are not lifting or on the same days as you life?

Such a sad, sad day! Good luck Phil - I appreciate all the support. You are like a well made bra and I…heavy hangers with dark, rich areolas and cocoa bean nipples.

Thanks, Jim! I enjoyed the program. Who knows some day I might go back to the 5/3/1.
Doing the 5/3/1 program but it’s tough to work in with my work schedule at times. That and not every firehouse I’m at has all the free weights I need (ie none at all).
Even though my weights are at the “suck” level according to alot of standards.
Flex magazine took the program and changed it up a little bit and put it in their newest mag. Thought I’d share it.
Been doing the 5/3/1 program since January and I really like it. Ive been making great progress. It fits easily into my busy schedule and I like how it is slow but steady.

From Jim’s logs, he does the conditioning on the same days as he lifts most of the time. I’ve been pushing the prowler right after lifting. That seems to give me more rests days. I lift 3-4 days a week and therefore prowl 3-4 days a week.

I hope Jim doesn’t mind …
That was page 60 since you bought the book.
Hey, so I have a quick question. Bought the book, thought it was superb. My only problem is that I dont have access to a bench press, I have squat stands but no bench… so should I just be doing the 4day a week plan excluding the bench press? Or is there another movement I can do in place of the bench press for a few months until I gain access to a bench?

Thanks, I only skimmed through it once (I was at work). I will give it a more thorough read.

Off Topic. Just read in the q/a over at elitefts.com that you are a Dax Riggs fan. That is awesome, I have rverything hes ever done (that came out). Been listening to acid bath since middle school.

I’ve been a big fan of Acid Bath for a long time. Much of the early NOLA scene was a huge influence on me, especially EYEHATEGOD who are my favorite band. Dax’s other stuff is good but I haven’t really invested enough time in it to fully appreciate it. Paegan Terrorism Tactics is a great album and will probably stand the test of time.

If all you have is squat stands and a bar, you are probably going to have to cut out the other pressing day and just wait until you have access to a bench press.
If you can, do a lot of dips, pushups, chins on this day.
Quick off topic, Jim, your military press is insane. Keep up the great work and thanks for putting out that 531 manual!

Thanks. This lift was always a struggle for me. As soon as I got this to improve, most of my upper body lifts improved as well. It is a great test of upper body strength.
Thanks for buying the book!

Thanks and I’m glad I could help you get back into the weight room again. Getting stronger is what its all about - push for P.R.s in the weight room and challenge yourself in conditioning. Strong mind and strong body.
