Weird, but impressive

Yeah, I think in this case is because I had to just shut my brain off and work. Have had similar experiences lifting while sick…you just stop giving any fuxx and your lizard brain takes over.

Not a state I prefer to be in, but good to know it is there to tap into.

I love that feeling! It’s like I check out, and by the time I check back in, all the work is done

I think it is more accurate in my case to say I partly shut it off. I shut off the part that is telling me that I cannot do it. The part where it sucks physically is still completely there lol.

100% When it happens to me, I feel like something is controlling my brain and making me do more sets.

I’m pretty tired and busy, so you’ll have to insert your own penis joke here, but good work man. Its PR city around here.

Well, I never said it was a PR.

Nice job with the squats. Good to see you getting some real work in

Try harder next time then!

I did try harder!

But sheesh man, this was just week two of my first cycle of a rebound from quarantine lifting program. Give me a few more weeks for the PRs, damn.

Excuses, excuses I want PRs, if I wanted excuses I’d talk to my kids!

I haven’t really openly stated yet that I am going Full Simo*, but subconsciously that is sort what is happening. My morning weight is now consistently over 81 kilo, so a good two or three kilo over where I was at the end of May. I am not deliberately eating everything in sight, but I AM eating enough to support progress without worrying about it too much.

*Defined as eating everything, getting strong and swole while giving zero fuxx.

Do u feel the freedom? The happiness? THE GAINS?

Not yet, really. None of these gains put me anywhere near real PR territory. But the trends are fine.

Honestly, though, I am never satisfied with anything I do. That is the price I pay for having the unreasonable belief that I should be good at absolutely everything at the same time.

Really, really solid squat and deadlift for an old fart with a bad lower back!

Thanks for that backhanded compliment, lol

C1W3D2 - Press day. OHP. Strict Press. Military Press. Strength Press. Vertical Moving Of Things Above the Skull Region.

Kinda mixed feelings about the result, but technically this is right about where it should have been on the curve. My mind has me thinking ā€œbut it is only 5 kilo more than last time!ā€ and expects more reps, but the math says this is a tiny improvement compared to doing 60 x 15 last time. In reality this felt way harder. At 60 I run out of gas. At 65 I run out of strength.

  • Standing Barbell Shoulder Press (OHP)

    • 25 kg x 5 reps
    • 35 kg x 5 reps
    • 40 kg x 3 reps

    • 65 kg x 12 reps
    • 45 kg x 10 reps
    • 45 kg x 10 reps
    • 45 kg x 10 reps
    • 45 kg x 10 reps
    • 45 kg x 10 reps
  • Barbell Deadlift

    • 60 kg x 5 reps

Makes me worry about next cycle when I have to get at least 10 reps of 70, but that is at least 4 weeks away, so who knows how much fatter I can get in that period of time.

Also, 100 kilo for the DL assistance annoys my back. Which is really annoying, because it feels light as shit. Was also playing with some new (cheap) Figure 8 straps, and I can’t quite figure out the best way to get these stupid things tight. Not sure I like them, but I probably would if I could figure out how to not get them to slide in.

It’s just that I see complaining but then I see squat 110 x 15, deadlifts 175 x 2, OHP 65 x 12… :stuck_out_tongue:
