Weird, but impressive

There is room in my brain both to assume she is on all the drugs, and still be impressed.

While I’m also impressed, I have a fragile ego and need to find some excuse for why I’m significantly weaker than a 17 year old girl.

You’re probably better at burpees than she is.

Were you born into a camp created to build Olympic champions???

@Cyrrex probably not even. At least I have my sparkling personality

@Frank_C not that I know of. So it’s my parents fault then? Cool.

You’re saying she doesn’t have a sparkling personality as well?

Look at her instagram - she has plenty of filtered kissy-face pictures, pictures chucking up peace signs (on the podium even), pictures with her teammates, pictures of food - seems like underneath the training and the tough regimen, she’s still very much a 17 year old girl. I wouldn’t consider her some state-operated lifting machine by any means.

He can feel better knowing that she has 40 pounds of muscle on most of us and up to 100 pounds of total bodyweight, combined with elite genetics, world class coaching, and a life dedicated to lifting with no other distractions. Although, I don’t think he’s serious at all about being jealous or emasculated.

I was being facetious

Hot take: you can’t say facetious without sounding pretentious

And the grandest of all ironies, you can’t say pretentious without sounding pretentious.

Hey, I’ve clean and jerked 185#, so I could hit just over half what she can! Plus, I can squat for a single almost as much as she can hit for 8 easy reps!

Doesnt Korea have a drug culture? Dunno about strength sports but given all the body image standards they got and what they already to meet up poking urself with a needle at that extreme. They bump out a lot of physique athletes

Sorry, bud, but if you want to be the best at a strength or physique competition then you’d better be using.

The only ā€œfairā€ competition is one where everyone is juiced. The rest is just not getting caught.

Ain’t even about competing. Is socio-cultural construct

Plastic surgery is a pretty common graduation gift over there

RIP self esteem. Hello cosmetic industry profits. Ye buddy

Alright, I think I have come to a decision, and I am coming here to write it down so that I won’t change my mind. Now that I have been farting around with 5 Pro for a couple weeks, it is time to get serious once again. 5 Pro was okay for getting me back into some kind of lifting shape, but I know myself well enough to know that it is not the version of 531 that will work best for me.

So…back to Old Skool 5/3/1 for me starting today. As discussed frequently, in my world that means it is the AMRAP version, every week. I may not do the exact Big But Boring version (which calls for 5 additional sets of 10 reps at 60% of 1RM or whatever), but will do something similar. Like replacing it with 350 sets, or using different movements like adding Bulgarians. Undecided if I will add a second movement (e.g. assistance benching on squat day, etc.), I may decide to be a bit less structured there.

Will have to reset all my TMs. Thinking 70 for OHP, 115 for squat, 105 for decline, 150 for dead. These are all deliberately slightly on the low side of the 90% recommendation, but that usually works for me.

Haven’t quite figured out how much I am gonna feed myself. I seem to have gone north of 80kg again on a daily basis, and I wouldn’t want to get too much fatter. We will see. I can already feel that I am not stressing too much about eating too much lately.
