Day C+15

Supplies are in order today, so no need to go out and fight off the zombie hordes for scraps of dead animal skin and canned beans. Sent the boy out for fresh air, hope nothing eats his brains.

Leg day today, and slightly turning up the pressure. Lots of single leg lunges in various formats, and did a bunch of jump squats. I should do more of those, they seem pretty effective, and I suppose I am built for them. Despite doing it with zero load (no vest on today, will do that next time), my legs are nice and wobbly. I of course dislike not being able to squat for real, but meh, my legs never grow from them anyway, so maybe this is just as good.

Day C+16

Weight still 78.5
Resting Heart Rate at 48 for the last week or so, which is low. Perhaps I am becoming a zombie.

Didn’t do jack today, felt like a good day for a break. Despite having no equipment, whatever I am doing is still managing to actually give me DOMS, so that sounds like success so far. Tomorrow will probably be shoulder day, and that is kinda intimidating when it’s BW the whole way.

Went out with the boy, the usual trip down to the town center so he can get out and exercise a bit. People out enjoying the sunshine…bit too many, but then again, I was out there myself. People keeping their distance, zero walking dead.

Hah, she has a nicer butt. Also dangerous putting them up on their ends like that…they lose a lot of stability. Might have to try that move, even if it looks a little girly.

Day C+17. Shit, 17?

Sunny today, but cool and very windy. Also got the first visible snowfall of the year. On March 29. DK is pretty far north, FYI. Just a tiny dusting, already gone. Still, probably just stay inside all day today, no reason to go out as such.

Shoulders today, with a minor bit of pullups to go with it. Was thinking I would go for 20 and that would be a PR. Oops, app says it wasn’t after all, apparently I have done 21 at some point. Oh well, I think it is counterproductive anyway, because I was too tired to do much more after that point. Everything after set number 6 is done slow, with the very last one in super slowmo.

Same here, a little bit more south. Although not really the first time this year but it snowed today.

Impressive bodyweight stuff. I am new to your log and just tuned in because you seemed like a funny guy. Could you maybe give a brief overview of what you were doing workout wise before the apocalypse and what your goals and athletic background are?

Hey man, glad to have you here in my zombie preparation thread.

I don’t have an athletic background as such, but have been doing this crap for 10 years or something like that. I am just another old dude (46) trying to be a young dude. From a training perspective, I swing between extremes…The second half of 2019 was all about a rigid dedication to 5/3/1 and getting fat. Since December, it has been all intuitive training (which is what I do most of the time) and losing fat.

I happen to be pretty okay at the bodyweight stuff, which is a bonus during this quarantine shit, but I gotta admit that I am already getting tired of using gravity as my primary form of resistance!

Sounds like a good goal to me, haha.
What kind of strength levels did you reach when you decided to get fat?

Uh…it’s somewhere above, but from memory my best lifts from that last block were something like:

130kg x 3 on the decline bench
125kg x maybe 12 on the squat
150kg x maybe 12 on the deadlift
85kg x 2 on the OHP

at roughly 84kg bodyweight.

Decided to do zilch today. I think if the apocalypse is good for anything, it is teaching me to take rest days. Had to take a quick trip to drop off a package. Didn’t have to shank anyone in the brain, so success.

Tomorrow…legs again? Bob? Hard to say.

That was the slightly fatter version of me. Now I just do pushups and stuff, and not even very many.

I’m still the fat version of me, and I wouldn’t get particularly close to those numbers.

Didn’t take a single step outside today, except to run to the mailbox. Feel I need to get out and about a little, fresh air, check the zombie situation, etc. Finally got around to doing something productive training wise, though nothing spectacular. All this alternating.

Day C+21

Starting on the fourth week of this shit? Dang. Didn’t go out today, once again. I am getting a little too good at this quarantine stuff. Need to probably make a more concerted effort to actually leave the house for fresh air every now and again. I will have my boy with me next week, so that’ll help. Admittedly been too busy anyway…both with work (from home), and also apparently because I felt the need to both re-arrange and then re-re-arrange two rooms over the last few days. I think I am mostly done.

Anywho, no time or energy to workout today. Tomorrow will have to be a leg day and possibly some Bob if I have any excess energy.
