Weird, but impressive

Lockdown Day 39. Still no abs.

7 rounds of Bob. My knuckles are actually getting a bit bruised from going without gloves too frequently. Did some jumps as well, but am a bit underfed and low on energy, so I barely managed 8 feet. WTF.

do you notice any changes in your hands, like bone growth or something or do they at least become harder if not bigger?

I don’t know if you’ve ever read Of Mice and Men, but Curly has the solution to this problem. Bob will be grateful.

Yeah, in fact I have over many years developed much more resilient skin on my knuckles. Nothing visible that you can see, but I can absolutely pound on a heavy bag or Bob without any real risk of tearing the skin. I do it frequently enough these days that the skin will barely even redden. It is quite strange. The knuckles underneath can still get a bit sore, but even that is not visible.

The funny thing is…the reason I do it in the first place is not because it is tough and badass. It is the opposite. Gloves get all sticky and sweaty and after a few minutes I cannot wait to get them off, almost like some weird claustrophobia. I would be a terrible boxer, because if I didn’t win after like two rounds, I would make my corner throw in the towel and cut my gloves off.

So many years ago that I am not seeing the joke.

Of Mice and Men is required reading for all British GCSE students, or it was in my day.

Curly keeps a glove filled with whatever the redneck cowboy version of Vaseline is on so his one hand is soft for his lady friends.

Ah, sure. But no worries, I go through my day mostly caked in Vaseline. For various and sundry reasons.

Lockdown Day 39. Still no abs.

Pull-up day, mixed with some ab and biceps stuff. I am in that horrible place right now where I am still too heavy, but my strength is definitely waning, making everything fucking terrible. I very nearly failed out on the last two sets. Ouch. Not a fun rep scheme on a good day.

    • Pull-Up

      • 5 reps
      • 6 reps
      • 7 reps
      • 8 reps
      • 9 reps
      • 10 reps
      • 11 reps
      • 12 reps
      • 13 reps
      • 14 reps
      • 15 reps
    • Ab Wheel (standing)

      • 2 reps
      • 3 reps
      • 3 reps
      • 4 reps
      • 5 reps

Happy to slowly increase those ab wheels, hopefully without too much DOMS.

I might go for a run in a bit. If you don’t see any posts from me in the next few days, it is because I died of running.

Sometimes hard to believe the risks we take.

Right, so I ran. Did what the app said. Was cold and rainy as balls, but also a bit too easy. But fine, it is a start.

25 minutes (10 of which is walking warmup and cooldown)
3.1 km
6 minutes of actual running.

This is getting ridiculous… are you sure you’re doing it right?

Well, let’s make a checklist and see if we can spot the problem!

-Eating a bit less? Check.
-Still doing resistance training? Check
-Adding in a bit of cardio even if makes no difference? Check
-Eating fewer than 3 high carb snacks in the evening? Check
-Actually losing some weight? Check
-Still drinking a bit too much alcohol? Check

I don’t know, everything seems to be in order if you ask me.

It’s the one that burns alcohol as fuel :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Haha, indeed. I don’t have ā€œlove handlesā€ so much as I have high octane fuel tanks.

I think you may be on to something here. For $600 you could straighten this out

Do they do neurotype reassignment surgery?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: who knows? Maybe!

Can I skip the surgery if I identify as whatever the good neurotype is? Also, what is the good neuro type? What neurotype are all the cool kids?

Sure!

It’s the ones that have abs!
