Weird, but impressive

Soon he’ll be logging a set of 4 plate dips done on his Zimmer frame.

Haha, I reckon that might be a prophecy!

I had to google Zimmer frame, and let me just tell you that I am OFFENDED. But yeah, I will be doing 40 rep sets on that bitch.

Upright rows of any flavor begin to wreck my shoulders and elbows after three to five sessions. You recently started the upright rows, so correlation/causation?

That is a good observation, but not the case in this case. This legit is just one of those ā€œthat time of the month and possibly because the weather is turningā€ kind of things I get once in a while, combined with a CNS that probably wants me to take a chill once in a while. My slight elbow pain is a constant, so I am pretty in tune with the different aches and pains. Plus, I just like to bitch.

Slept like poop, and still not really feeling totally recovered from stuff, so probably shoulda skipped. But instead went and did some deadlifts. It was basically a disaster. Went up to my planned topset of 185, and decided to actually try to pull with a little bit of speed for once (observant readers may remember that I am too scared to do that normally). It went up nice and easy. So I foolishly decided to put a couple of tens on each side and go for 205, which is the first time I have attempted anything greater than two hundred in years. And stupidly decided to just shut my brain off and do it with some speed as well. And damnit all to shit, it went up easy as pie. WTF.

Barbell Deadlift

  • 85 kg x 5 reps
  • 100 kg x 5 reps
  • 120 kg x 5 reps
  • 135 kg x 3 reps
  • 150 kg x 3 reps
  • 165 kg x 1 reps
  • 185 kg x 1 reps
  • 205 kg x 1 reps (joker)
  • 140 kg x 5 reps
  • 140 kg x 5 reps
  • 140 kg x 8 reps

What a mess. No idea what to do with myself.

I’m here for you if you want to talk buddy. Tough times will make you stronger. We’re all rooting for you! Lifting over 200 kg out of the blue is only a bump in the road.

Thx man, I will try to use this setback for something positive.

Slept a bit better. Probably should find something easy to do today, but am feeling pretty good and the cranky joints are also doing fine. The DLs yesterday didn’t take too much out of me, apparently. So may as well do some push pressing, right? Right. My tentative plan was to keep it a bit easy today and just see how it went.

  • Push Press

    • 40 kg x 5 reps
    • 50 kg x 3 reps
    • 60 kg x 3 reps
    • 70 kg x 3 reps
    • 80 kg x 2 reps
    • 90 kg x 1 reps
    • 100 kg x 1 reps
    • 115 kg x 1 reps (PR)
    • 90 kg x 10 reps
  • Seated Barbell Press Behind Neck

    • 25 kg x 5 reps
    • 35 kg x 5 reps
    • 45 kg x 5 reps
    • 55 kg x 5 reps
    • 65 kg x 8 reps (PR)
    • 35 kg x 20 reps
  • Pull-Up

    • 5 reps
    • 5 reps
    • 5 reps

So I guess that is three Push Press sessions a row that were PRs. 115 shot up as if out of a cannon, RPS 0. So strange. And yes, I did hold it over my head for my than 5 seconds. I was shaking from the adrenaline rush for almost 5 minutes afterwards and can still feel it an hour later. The 90 for 10 is also obviously a rep PR, and Oh My God was that tough. Top 10 most difficult exercises I have ever done, easy.

Something seems to be working.

I would say something is working for you - congrats on all the PRs - great lifting!

Yea I must begrudgingly say he is impressive with his constant stream of PRs, effortless deadlifts and 0 RPS push press.

I have no illusions about how close to my maxes I really am with all this. ā€œEasyā€ is very much a relative term. It is entirely possible that I will fail if I try to add even a tiny bit more to any of these lifts.

Give it a week and it’ll be:

Felt like crap, slept badly, wasn’t trying to push too hard, didn’t want to lift but the boy made me go

140kg push press
300kg deadlift
23 muscle ups

I also did some accessories but instead of logging them like a normal person, I’m writing whole sentences out to describe why I haven’t logged them

Today was an awful day, the wind hurt my hip and those damn kids wouldn’t get off my lawn.

Oh! That reminds me that I did some ab exercises that I didn’t log.
