Weightlifting Late at Night

I remember reading here there were certain ‘optimum’ times to weightlift where you had the most energy. Now its pretty continent for me to lift at night 9pm+ then come home relax shower drink shake then sleep. I also avoid the massive amount of people lifting at 5-8. Just curious what times you guys usually lift, and if you think its a bad idea to lift late at night.

I always had trouble sleeping if I lifted too late. I would often lift a 11:30pm because I worked a semi-swing shift. And if I did something heavy like legs, I would toss and turn until about 4:30am.

I think the adrenaline of lifting interferes with my sleep for about 4 hours.

I had this problem also and still do somewhat I’m thinking of getting some zma to help. This is one of the most notable things that bugs me about it.

I hate evening session because of the amount of people in the gym. If I have to go into the office I’ll go first thing in the morning. However, I find the best time is around 2/3pm.

For some of last semester I was lifting somewhere between 8 and 10pm, but eventually I started sneaking it in between classes. I never had any problems with lifting late though.

As long as you can stay motivated that late, and it doesn’t affect your sleep, I don’t see the problem with it.

All depends on how it affects your sleep and what time you have to wake up. If lifting at 9 or 10 is going to keep you up until 2 and you have to wake up at 6 I don’t think it’s any good. But if you’re up until 2 and don’t have to wake up til 10 or so I don’t think it’s a big deal.
