Can anyone recommend a full body workout routine without using weights or a pull-up bar? Money is too tight to afford a gym membership and it is not possible to put a pull-up bar in my apartment…Any help will be appreciated…
Use water or sandfilled plastic cans as dumbells, start deadlifting your bed and other furniture, old suitcases is good for rowing etc
It´s just a new way of thinking, same exercises but new weights.
If you enough money buy some bands from Jump Stretch Inc. You can use them to do just about any exercise you could think of. They are a helluva lot stronger than that surgical tubing most people use. I’ve been using the jump stretch bands for weighted GPP and I love them.
You can do a full body workout at a park that has a jungle gym. You can do one-legged squats, plyo jumps, jumping jacks, rope skip (with or without rope), push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups with various grips, plyo push-ups, cross-over push-ups, find some rocks to lug or toss around, do dead lifts or squats with. Just be creative. And this will make you a hardcore athlete, and it’s fun. Just ignore all the strange looks from by-passers.
There was a site a while back that described just this, and was geared toward prison inmates who didn’t have access to any equipment. Utilize another person for “buddy squats” and “buddy rows”. Pushing movements are easy (pushups and handstand pushups). Use a towel for some isometrics. One legged bodyweight squats.
Check out the articles on “Combat Conditioning” and “Renegade Training” for many different exercises that can be performed with bodyweight only. If you can only afford a jump rope and towel, you will be set for some intense workouts. Do it up!
if your apartment has a doorway you most possibly could put up a door way. Also buy a keg. Sooner or later you probably will wish that you did lift atleast some regular weights…
Hmmm… Nate had good advice. My favorite bodyweight only exercise is Glute Ham Raises. you just need something to anchor youe feet under. I have my girlfriend sit on mine. Oh man they are a killer
Do a search on combat training (on t-mag), and if you can affort it invest in a swiss ball (since you’re not going to be using a bunch of weight you can buy one from Wal Mart for about $15) the number of exercises you can do on it are limitless (yes even without weight). If you have trouble finding exercises just post it on the forum. Best of luck.
I remember seeing a book at the library on training like a navy seal. I forgot what the title is, but there were a lot of excercises in the book that didn’t use weights at all. Check out some of the stuff Pavel has written.
The Seal book is Navy Seals Ultimate Workout Book:The Exercises & Fitness Programs Used by the U. S. Navy SEALs & BUD/S Training. Hope this helps.
sorry i botched this one “if your apartment has a doorway you most possibly could put up a door way” oh man, i meant you could put a pull up bar in the door way, i have seen lots of these things on the net.
