Weak People on T-Nation

What else am I supposed to do at work?

I felt weak when I started posting here. I even look back to when I joined 6 odd months ago and I’m ashamed at what I wrote.

Now, I can bench 275 pounds, the other day I pressed 185, and I’ve squatted and deadlifted more than I ever have in my life, mainly because I never squatted or deadlifted in my life haha.

Those numbers mean fuck all to guys doing 405 for reps. But to me they mean a lot and serve as motivation to keep going.

I’m entirely uncertain what section of the posting population that places me, but I can’t say I’ll lose any sleep over it either.

ESPECIALLY WITH MY FANCY NEW BOTTLE OF Z-12

I’m glad that people didn’t take this the wrong way (so far; though someone will undoubtably do such at some point).

I think that there are two main types of weak-er people on this site.

1.) people who spend ALL their time on the site an barely any time in an actual GYM

2.)people who come here TO GET STRONG and aren’t quite there yet.

people in the first column are the reason why i wrote this and they annoy me.

I posted how I’m weak. I fall into your #2 catagory, I WAS a giant fat ass, that journey is over, I’m ready to begin the transision to no longer weak and flabby.
I come here to learn from those who are willing to share, I try to take it all in and apply it so I can get where they are.
We’re not all here to be Ronnie Coleman but some of us want to try. Some of us put in the time at the gym, keep our mouths shut and learn from those who have what we want. Some of us decided this is what we want later in life and feel fortunate to have a site like Tnation to talk to those who know. So for now I’ll shut up and do what I came here to do…learn…and make fart jokes.

It is funny to note that on many forums, including this one at times, just about everyone is 6’5, weighs nearly 300lbs of solid muscle, perfectly ripped, no fat, could be Mr Olympia, break all the records in power lifting and olympic lifting, but doesn’t want to show off, has the biggest dick on the site, is a mixed martial artist, and no body can kick his ass so much so that he also won’t join the UFC cause he would beat everyone up and that would be unfair, and of course all the women want him cause he’s just the best damn fucker that has ever lived.

but you meet the fool for real, he’d be about 5’8, 135lbs, and the most he ever lifted was his ass off the chair he sits at to type at his computer to go take a leak, before playing video games for the next 8 hours. while chugging down cans of pop and energy drinks.

as for me, im 5’6, 165lbs, my build isn’t near huge, nor will it ever be, but thats ok, i don’t let my lack of genetics keep me from trying to constantly improve. lot of people i know consider me strong, and i do disagree with them, cause i’ve seen and hung out with some incredibly strong guys and women. and being around people like that keep me motivated to get better.[/quote]

That’s crap, you can be big if you really work at it. It’s easier for some people than others, but not impossible. Unless you are in chemo right now or something. I was about 115 when I started lifting and I think I have some respectable size and strength now.

"Please define “weak.” "

It’s all a peronal definition.

I’m almost at a 300lb bench, and even then I will see 315, 350 etc…and think “I’m still weak”.

I used to be alot weaker and smaller.

for the fun of it; i look at some of my oldest posts.

haa i was little and stupid.

“was”

Agreed. People aren’t stupid here. That’s enough to justify the forums for me.

Would you rather argue on youtube?..

Theres another excuse that gets tossed around, too much.

That’s what I was trying to say. I’m not sure what “lack of genetics” even means. Do you have fewer chromosomes?

Its the same thing in all aspects of people’s lives. how many people/friends have said to you ‘i’m gonna get a new job and do this and do that blah blah blah…’ and then years later are still doing the same thing?

Tons I bet.

I don’t post often, but this one was is a good thread.

Good intentions never got anybody anywhere. Hard work and not being a pussybag all the time does though.
just my 2 cents.

In my experience pathetically weak people always seem to accuse strong people of being on roids.

Don’t forget that those big-strong people don’t know how they got that way either…only small personal trainers hold the Holy Grail to bodybuilding…and their clients stay small because…well, big muscles are icky.

They have problems with feeling full in order to grow and with the pain involved with lifting heavy. It’s uncomfortable and reaching goals is all about comfort.

I’m not as strong as some, but getting stronger.

When I joined this site, I struggled to rep out with 200 lbs on squats and 125 on the bench.

Yesterday I benched 280 for an easy single and I’ve done 400 for a couple reps in the squat. Strong? I don’t think so. Getting stronger? Hell yes.

The point is the struggle.

I don’t think T-Nation was meant to be a collection of only strong people. Rather I find it to be a community of strong WILLED people with a hard-core, die-hard attitude towards training. LUEshi is correct, the entire focus of training is the journey. For most of us, that journey never ends.

So now work ethic is genetic? (as well as fat level)

That sounds great on a greeting card. The truth is, even though it is about the journey, if you are still stuck in the first quarter mile of it for 10 years, you may want to sit your ass down on the road and die so the rest of us can have more room to walk.

You didn’t know? The ONLY reason someone would push really hard to reach a goal as well as sacrifice some things is because they are either insecure, mentally ill, or flaming gay.

Everything can be blamed on genetics, if you can deceive yourself enough.

Earlier today, I bumped my funny-bone on the desk as I sat down. You know, if I didn’t have such fucking shitty genetics, my arm probably wouldn’t have been the exact length needed for that to occur.

I give up on life, this is too hard.
