The only brand I am familiar with is Otomix. I don’t need a $150. pair of shoes, but would like something mid-price (100-125?) Any shoe experts?
Depends on what your going for. I just got Chuck Taylors and like them. Those were only $50 though. I’m sure others will pitch in there ideas.
i second the chucks but if your looking for oly shoes, why not look on ebay and try get a bargain? just a thought
Seriously…no shoes at all is my favorite, by far. I have fat feet and wearing chucks hurts like a motherfucker. Ever since I first tried deadlifting/squatting barefoot I always do it now.
If you’re looking for a great and comfortable pair of all-purpose training shoes, then go with Nike Frees.
But if you’re looking for a good pair of shoes to deadlift in and that’s your focus, then get a pair of Chucks or Vans.
You can find all of these online and on eBay for pretty cheap if you shop around. You should be able to find a pair of both Frees and Chucks and still stay in that $100-125 range for both combined. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $20 for a pair of Chucks and most of the time I’ve been able to get my Frees for around $50-60.
I heard about nike frees but have never seen them. I got New Balance 790 trail runners. They have very thin flat soles. I bought them simply because they fit me best but I think the lack of elevation in the heels has helped my posture.
I always get New Balance, just make sure its wide (at least 2E). I like them because they have room in the toe box.
whatever you do…dont buy Nike Shox…worst mistake of my life…uncomfortable for eveything except jumping.
About the nike frees do you guys recommend 7.0, 5.0 or 3.0?

I recommend the 7.0, as they have more lateral support. The 5.0 and 3.0 tend to be more of a running shoe, but it seems to vary from style to style. Nike.com and eastbay.com are the only two websites that consistently have them. They are getting pretty tough to find in stores. eBay will have them too if you’re willing to search around on the site for them.
The cool thing about getting them from Nike is that if you’re willing to pay a little more, you can completely customize the shoe yourself. I know a few people here have done that.

Chuck Taylors would be my recommendation.
Im a sneaker head myself Ive got like 150 pairs of different limited’s and what not !But I do love to wear nike free’s in the gym like the boys alredy said keep in mind for deadlifts and such your gona want something with litle to no arch! Air force 1’s are always a good options as well as nike dunks or nike blazers both in low cuts!

These are pretty good…
If you can, go with the free ones you were born with.
They make you wear shoes in my gym. Thanks for all of the tips. I have checked Ebay and there are a lot of shoes, just not many in my size.
