Visit to DO-Now I'm Really Lost

I recently visited with a D.O. in my area for trt. Told him of prior lab tests (293 and 301 TT)He listened to me but said he wants to treat with hcg(sublingual) alone and “maybe a few shots (of test)”. He said the hcg would raise test. when I asked about self administering, he said it was illegal.

I have a lot of gray hair for my age (29) and he said that it’s from low dhea and that the color can be reversed back to black. Asked him to take blood with list of stuff I wanted tested. The nurse took blood, but when I saw sheet that nurse had, half the stuff wasn’t circled (lh, fsh, etc).

I had to sign it so when she wasn’t looking I quickly circled the missing things. Don’t think it matters because they have certain vials for certain tests which she already had ready to go. He said he’d give me shot of test after blood draw to “see how i feel when i come back”.

After nurse gave me shot, I realized no one told me what exactly or how much they shot me with. My fault because I should have asked. I don’t remember what vial said but it statred with a “D” then another word then Phosphate. Didn’t see cyp or enat.I didn’t see her draw it from that vial but it was the only one near her.
I don’t think I should go back to this Dr.

I called 3 compounding pharmacies and they won’t tell me who is prescribing test, hcg, and arimidex. They just give me dr names who deal with trt/hrt. One lady said drs dont really prescribe hcg because of strict regulations but it’s funny how this D.O. only wants to use hcg. I don’t have time or money to spend looking for the right dr.

I’m REALLY frustrated and feel lost and even a little hopeless. Someone PLEASE help with suggestions with drs in L.I./NYC area or just general advice.

Send a PM to “Bricknyce”.

Per his posts here, he seems to be very happy with his doctor(s) and is located in your area. Maybe he can recommend.

hcg sublingual: QUACK

Thanks. I’ll pursue that. Yea, he sounded like a weirdo. When he said he wanted to treat with hcg alone, I knew he was nuts.

Hello. I didn’t see this post til now. Go to my posts on andrologist-urologists in NYC and Long Island. Where are you located - Long Island or five boroughs of NYC?

I’ve sent three people to my doc and they all got fixed up within one or two visits.

Bullshit. The endocrinologists and urologists I’ve seen prescribe HCG, Clomid, Arimidex, and testosterone.

What’s also retarded is giving a shot to see how you feel. Some moron endocrinologist wanted to try that with me when I first became hypogonadal. At the age of 23, I had enough insight to tell myself, “What is this, a fucking game? You don’t just ‘try’ something to see how it goes without coming up with a diagnosis. Fuck this guy; I’m getting someone else!”

The endocrinologist and urologist I’ve seen ALWAYS check FSH, LH, estradiol, and free and total testosterone.

I didn’t say I self-inject. I’ve posted several times here I’ve taken Androgel for about eight years and NEVER had a problem with anything. This is in opposition to what KSman writes here. For those who find his content useful, follow him. I follow what my competent doctors prescribe.

Actually with 10 grams of the stuff for eight years, my LH and FSH levels are now low normal - low, but normal nonetheless. The only side effect I have is slight testicular shrinkage. When I want to have a kid, I’ll take Clomid or HCG.

I respond VERY well to clomid. When I was first diagnosed with hypogonadism by my andrologist, he gave me the option of Androgel OR clomid OR HCG. He said he doesn’t prefer to have men on clomid for long, but if I wanted to use it for some time, it was fine with him.

He gave me HALF A TAB and LH and FSH returned to normal and my testosterone shot up from 240 to 790 ng/dL - a tripling of T!

Let me repeat that because it feels good: HALF A TAB of clomid tripled my T value! So much for people bashing it and recommending insane dosages.

I received your PM and perhaps you didn’t see my other thread on andrologist-urologists to see in NYC and LI. I recommend seeing Brett Mellinger as he has done a TON of work and was formerly the chief/chariman urologist at Winthrop University but now has his own practices in Plainview and Garden City. I’ve sent three people to him and they all got fixed up.

Please see his CV here. Apparently he knows more than people reading stuff on the internet and behaving as doctors and is actually trained in all things related to the male reproductive system: surgery, vasectomies, hypogonadism, fertility, impotence, and so on.

Warning: This guy isn’t give a shit about what you read on T-mag from non-professionals, nor should he. You’re not gonna tell him what to do - no concoctions of drugs that he doesn’t see fit. Yes, he gives Arimidex to people who NEED it. I never needed it as I’ve had NO problems with estradiol.

By the way, his practice in Garden City is right behind Roosevelt Field Mall, across from the movie theater in those buildings over there.

Works for you … great. Does not for all. But most importantly the costs involved for the Androgel compared to injected T are rather extreme.

Does Androgel explain the bad attitude? Or is that misunderstood enthusiasm?

I don’t what you mean by bad attitude. If it came across that like I have one, I apologize. I wasn’t in a bad mood at the time I wrote that and I have nothing against you. Why would I? You seem like a helpful, friendly, caring person to me.

On cost. We’ve been through this before. I’ve never paid more than 75 bucks a month for 10 grams per day, which is the highest dosage prescribed. Most people with a job have health insurance.

What does “CV” mean?

Curriculum vitae. Click on the link!

CV is a fancy name for resume.

What part of LI are you in?

I don’t communicate via PM anymore, so we’ll talk in here or get at me with my other contact info in my hub page.

Just a fancy name for resume.

Delps: So what are you gonna do?
