Anyone have a Wii?

I keep going back and forth on whether I should get one or not. On the one hand the controller is innovative and looks like a lot of fun, but then another part of me thinks it would feel gimmicky after a couple of weeks and I’d be bored with the system.

The other pros are the old-school games you can download (once they get rolling on this, the library in place will destroy what 360 has), and the ability to play Gamecube games on the system.

Graphically, the system is behind the two, but I can sacrifice graphics for the sake of gameplay; as long as the gameplay doesn’t wear off in 2 weeks.[/quote]

I have the Wii. Hold off for just a few months more. I will let you know how it is once some decent games come out (I can only bowl for so long ya know).

Looking forward to the following:
Maria Party, the new Metroid, mario striker, super mario galaxy, no more heroes, and the big one, super smash bros!

I have heard good things about paper mario, but I am holding out for the games that I wanna get.

I just got a 360 w/ Gears. (My gamer tag is SloGrind if you want to help me up my pathetic gamer score). Otherwise I’m playing a bit of RE4(PS2) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I’m looking forward to picking up God of War 2, Crackdown, and BioShock when it comes out.

My buddy’s got a PS3 and that system has no freakin’ games, I’m so glad I got my 360. I was over there last nite and he showed me the Ninja Gaiden coming out, and its the same game as the Xbox had 2 years ago just cleaner. Is that all they are going to do is just clean up old games that didn’t make it from Xbox to Ps2?!!

The fact I can change my background in the Dashboard with any digital photo is enough to make me not want one anyway the customization is sweet, so far I’m not very impressed with that system at all.

Makes me wonder if Playstation is going to take a shit like Sega did. I know Sony will be around forever but with the PS3 games they have and are coming out, it looks like their videogame days are dying. Or are about to die, whats it been 6 months since it came out and they got like 10 games and the next ones coming are almost all old ports from PS2 and Xbox but just in HD now…

I am actually going to give PS3 a chance if for no other reason than that Sony hasn’t completely abandoned the PS2 players and simply put everything new out only on the PS3. I like that one of the best games I’ve played was still released on PS2. I like that I can get that new Spiderman game (there are slight variations in the PS2 vs the PS3 version) on the PS2 system as I still have mine.

They could have simply put both of those out geared for the new system if they wanted to…but they didn’t. I don’t see that as a negative.

I won’t be buying either the X-box or the PS3 just yet (I don’t plan to make that choice until around September or October), but first person shooter games aren’t what I’m into anyway. I want to see what they come it with “next”.

Here are a few games that I’m looking forward to, other than Metal Gear 4 and God of War III of course.

LittleBigPlanet

Heavenly Sword

Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed looks promising, because you are able to interact with anything and everyone in the level.

God of War II owned my life for a few days. Kratos is the ultimate T-Man in my opinion.

Anyway, check this out, if there’s a game that’s out that you really don’t want to shell out the money for but can’t wait to play it, here’s what you do:

Go to GameFly.com, and get the free 10-day trial. You get to order two games. Then, on the 9th day, cancel your subscription. You now have an additional 7 days to send the games back.

I did this with God of War II, and it worked like a charm. I probably could have beat the game 3 times before I had to return it.

Just started playing Company of Heroes. Pretty fucking good I reckon.

As Sony fan since the days of Warhawk and Battle Arena Toshiden (AMEN), Sony might lose this fight.

I’ve played 360 and their online is impressive. Plus working the 360 is easier than PS3, costs less, better internet play, and bigger category of games.

Also, all the former Sony exclusives- Tekken, Smackdown vs Raw, DBZ, Virtua Fighter, etc - have or will be on the 360. I think i’ve been converted to 360. But I tell you this, I’ll never play Street fighter or any 2D fighter on it.

Do you really think Sony won’t eventually bulk up their gaming library? Like written above, they could have released both God of War II and Spiderman 3 only on the new system. They didn’t. I don’t see that as a bad thing. Everyone hasn’t moved up to next gen yet and most will probably wait until next Christmas or later to do so.

BUT!!

I’ve already been converted, think of the other Sony fans who have been converted. 360 already has a distinct edge and I don’t know if Sony can get back their dominance with 800 dollar equipment that bugs out or is a pain in the ass to turn on.

As for Spider man 3 and God of War II, both will be heavy hitters, but not on the scale of Halo 3. I think 360 is going to finish Sony off. Unless they pull a FF7 re-make out of their ass, I don’t see much happening.

Playstation has a huge title coming out this year, LAIR. Plus ff13 and verse 13 come out next year that will sell systems. And FF7 is the next to be remaked and it would push the ps3 sales through the roof(even tho they are already doing fine).

Devil May Cry, God of War, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil series. Older games, but they’re cheap.

I’ve been playing old stuff I hadn’t gotten around to playing yet (so new stuff for me).

Tomb Raider: Legend(s?) is my main time waster right now, makes me wonder what Lara Croft will look like on the next gen systems.

After noticing that Baldur’s Gate on the Xbox wasn’t simply an identical port of the PC version, I played through that a couple of times. The game engine still holds its own after quite a few years.

Another cool “T-Game” is The Punisher. I found a patch that lets me modify the game (once it’s copied to the hard disk) to remove the various censorship devices the publishers put in place to make the game more “acceptable.” With the patch, that game is a regular Jack Bauer simulator… you get to torture bad guys to get information out of them. There’s endless variety.

And if anyone is looking for a T-Girl game, I suggest Bloodrayne 2. Rayne slices and dices while she taunts her opponents with sarcasm-dripping comments. What can you do but love her?

I’m going to get a Wii once the virtual console library gets bigger, I don’t even care about the new games other than Super Smash Bros. Nintendo has never let me down, and for $250 I don’t see a reason not to get one other than not having enough inputs on your TV.

800 Dollars vs 400 dollars

minor internet play vs massiver internet play

Average game library vs Bigger game library

Strange lookin vs sexy lookin…yes, i mean the consoles and yes i meant to leave the “g” out of those words.

I’d be backing the more powerful unit. Thats the Sony in my opinion.

Of course I’ll be sticking with the E6600 running the 8800GTS for now.

I hope Sony comes out with a few exclusive games that really showcase the power of their machine this year. I’ve seen a couple of demos, including one involving simulating 16,000 chickens, and the power in the PS3 is really astonishing.

Looking at past generations, power has seldom translated in market domination. The PS2 was the weakest console on paper compared with the Gamecube and Xbox, yet it massively dominated the market.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to better evaluate each platform during Christmas season this year.

Tomb Raider: Legend for the PS2 is a good game but it’s too short. When you’re finished the game you’ll ask yourself, “that’s it?” Then, you just see the credits scrolling down.

It’s worth the play though. The environments are extremely luscious and realistic. Just don’t shell out too much cash on it, since it’s so short.

Pookie, when you do get around to playing some of the new stuff, give Rainbow Six Vegas a try.

Another good game for the PS2 worth your money is Prince of Persia The Two Thrones. Extremely long game yet the story doesn’t fall off-track. Wide selection of combo/knife attacks to kill your enemy.

Sometimes, you can use stealth to your advantage which I like a lot (I’m a Metal Gear fan, what do you expect? Haha). One thing I didn’t like about it were the various weapons you found throughout the game did not have much distinction. It doesn’t take away from the game-play at all, in my opinion.

i tried to stop ‘wasting’ my time with video games, but then i caved for the wii. zelda is brilliant, and multiplayer is great, so no complaints there. seeing how the industry is going it would be a shame to leave it, and i’d much rather play GTA4 then watch the crap they have on TV these days.

i’m really swinging towards the 360. any price cuts rumoured? what’s it got going for it now and in the future?

I just canceled my cable. I don’t even watch tv much anymore, and since you can now get most tv shows worth watching on DVD, I usually just buy CSI, House, and Smallville. If I have time to actually waste, which usually isn’t until the weekend, I would rather spend that on a video game than watching most TV programs.

I don’t know who is on American Idol or even if Survivor is still on tv. I guess I’m just out of it.

I could pretty much disconnect my tuner from my TV. I occasionally watch House and thats it. DVDs is all the TV is for.
