Vic Richards From 16-18

But he did compete… just not at his biggest/later in his career. So he’s a bodybuilder, unless you have to compete regularly or you lose your status as one?
LOL. I posted pics years back of him competing at the age of 19. It was in that thread I linked to that “favorite bodybuilding picture” thread. Either way, competition doesn’t make you a bodybuilder. Mad Titan has competed in “fitness” comps I believe (I could be wrong)…does that mean he isn’t a “bodybuilder” because they use different standards?

Standing on stage isn’t what makes someone a bodybuilder.

Building your body up to an extreme degree does.

He WOULD have been the greatest Artist ever. But he won’t so you tell me is he an Artist?

? Many of the artists we consider legendary today were considered hacks in their life times.

? Hope you were lolling in agreement rather then at my point. I personally agree with you completely, mad titan/kelechi & vic richards fit the term of bodybuilder as much as anyone.

I was just suggesting that even for those people who believe you have to compete to be one, he did compete. So there’s literally no argument for him not being one regardless of a persons point of view on competing, lol…

No one said that to be a bodybuilder you had to make a living from bodybuilding. No one said you had to make it a career to be one. If you paint, you’re a painter, if you get on stage, you’re a bodybuilder.

Why all you motherfucker’s always arguing?

They were often considered horrible artist, but they were artist first. If art is your hobby and you focus all your attention on trying to make money fixing teeth then you are a dentist who does art for a hobby.

Side note. Is this discussion on what is a bodybuilder random or based on Vic? considering looking up his contest it showed that he competed in 5.

? So, I’m a song writer because I did an entire album without being signed before I graduated college?

Your labels aren’t making much sense. I was many things “first”. My job is just what I do in order to keep doing the things I really like. LOL. It just so happens I don’t hate my job.

So…Ronald Reagan can never be seen as a “president”…because he was an actor first?

EDIT: Nevermind… i’m staying out of this

Your assertion doesn’t make sense. Just because he does one thing means he can’t do two?.. Does it really have to be explained that in my example art being a hobby is different from a second job?

Reagan was an actor AND a president. He didn’t do politics only at house parties with his friends and let them tell him you would make a great president. He campaigned, debated, competed, and won. This hypothetical person your speaking of never did that for his bodybuilding sport. Can you say that someone who has never stepped on a bodybuilding stage, competed? If he stepped on a Pro stage you call him a pro bodybuilder, if you step on amateur stage stage you are an amateur bodybuilder, if you step on no stage you are a no bodybuilder. You can be a hobbyist or something.

If you did an entire album without being signed and never did the work to get it signed then NO you are not a song writer. Proving everybody’s point that if you don’t do the the work to follow through, then what you are doing is nothing more than a hobby.

You tell me. Didn’t you just say the guy isn’t an artist because he doesn’t make his living that way?

maybe I read you wrong. If so, I am VERY sorry.

? Bodybuilding for me is a “hobby”…that still defines a huge part of my life right now. The names are just labels. If you do something and are good at it or achieve above average results in it, you get to claim that for yourself as well.

? Who? This thread is about Vic Richards. I am pretty sure he did way more for the sport than many guys who have become IFBB pros simply because of how well known he is. The point was that what you do in your spare time may just make up the most about you…even if you have a job as something else.
? No.
Uh, yes.
, if you step on amateur stage stage you are an amateur bodybuilder,
Your point?
if you step on no stage you are a no bodybuilder.
? You are a NON COMPETITIVE BODYBUILDER.

Gee, look at that…words mean something.
You can be a hobbyist or something.
Something like a NONCOMPETITIVE BODYBUILDER

? I wrote songs. That makes me a song writer. A writer doesn’t have to be published to be a writer.

I looked at the first page and i thought man thats amazing progress and was just inspiring, I read a few interviews on how much he eats and his thoughts on things, I really respect the guy. And seriously if you dont believe he was a bodybuilder you need your head examined… with a shotgun

yeaaaaah! If you dont believe he was a bodybuilder then you should be murdered ya big idiots!

The guy was 5’10" and could weigh any where from 325-360?!?!?!

…and back before GH was used like multivitamins. The man was ahead of his time. No one knows what he could have done if he really had the goal of winning an O.

More back on topic:

Does anyone think him not regularly cutting down and sacrificing for shows gave him a physique advantage in the long run?

I mean if someone like Jay or Ronny focused on getting better and better year round, without the interruption of shows, do you think they would have been better than they were?

Maybe but only by a small margin
MJW806 wrote:

Shoulder width: 43"

Chest: 67"

Arms: 26"

Wrists: 12 1/2"

So with those measurements you can make up your mind on how true/not true the 325-360 claim is.

^^this statement seems like it’s trying to imply that he wasn’t using a ton of anabolics.

^ bodybuilder.
