Vic Richards From 16-18

Lol strong butthurt. I’m not going to get into debating definitions of what a bodybuilder is and isn’t. I just find it funny how people act like Victor Richards is the best thing ever because of some offseason/teenage pics.[/quote]

The best thing ever? You called him a coward. You said he was afraid. What are you basing this on? I remember following him in magazines and articles done on him. Do you? Wait, you were probably too young to even know what was going on.

You judged this man’s character based on the fact that he didn’t compete…as if his goals in life should match up with your own or else he is unworthy.

You would have to be extremely superficial to think something like that…and especially at an age when you really haven’t accomplished much yourself.

If that hurts, so be it. It is still the truth.

People in bodybuilding hold a place for Vic because he still reached a level of development most gym rats can only dream of. That isn’t “nothing”. It takes a shit load of commitment to pull that off…and there are tons of people jumping on stage who don’t even deserve to be there. That doesn’t make them better.

I know this has been asked and debated to death before but are you really a bodybuilder if you never compete?

You’re not a powerlifter if you like lifting heavy but never do a meet are you?

You’re not a basketball player if you shoot J’s in your backyard all day but never go out and compete are you?

You’re not a marathon runner if you run 30 miles a day but never run in an actual marathon are you?

You’re not a “bodybuilder” if you like lifting and getting bigger but younever get on stage and compete are you?

Srs question.

LMAO @ trying to talk shit to a “20” year old.

Brb too young to know anything
Brb never accomplished anything
Brb still going to talk shit to him

Shouldn’t you be a bit more mature? I’m sorry if I insulted your hero Victor Richards, I find it insulting that he is compared to Sergio Oliva.

I don’t think there’s a simple answer to that. In the end, people are what they believe themselves to be bodybuilder or otherwise.

It doesn’t matter what they call him. What matters is that many, if not most, bodybuilders would kill to look like that just once.

The person who spends much time trying to take away from that in some way may need to work on themselves a bit more.

Saying he isn’t a “bodybuilder” does what? Nothing.

QFT

A good friend of mine lives in Brooklyn. He works in the garment district by day, and paints pictures for himself at night. His apartment walls are literally covered with dozens and dozens of his beautiful, colorful canvases. He doesn’t make a living from his paintings. Is he an artist?

watch the interview with him in the other Vic thread… his head is giant during the close ups but the rest of him is giant too so its not really noticeable until the close ups.

Maybe thats why he got so into working out? His head was so much larger than his body that he had to get huge to make it look normal? lol

I don’t think Vic would be insulted by what I said, therefore by that standard we shouldn’t even be having this conversation.

I stated my opinion which went against the grain of the thread. I said many times Vic was big, but the claims which he made are ridiculous. Therefore I’m not putting much stock into him saying he didn’t compete because of “health” and “wellness.” I don’t think that argument is ridiculous.

The reason these threads get so sidetracked is that anything that is considered “negative” or “insulting” is a ground for one person to attack each other. I respect that people are entitled to think whatever they want, I just want them to do the same.

I can see why people hype up Vic, he certainly built some big arms and quads. At the same time he never was overly lean so we’ll never know what Vic was or could’ve been. To label him as anything more than an enigma or a myth wouldn’t be doing justice to all the other great competitors.

What conversation? I simply stated that I don’t think Sergio would be bothered by being categorized with someone like Vic. That is all.

He places licensed graphics/characters (created by someone else) on kids’ t-shirts and stuff.

Does he want to sell/make a living with his artwork someday? If so I would classify him as “an aspiring artist”… Isn’t that what they’re called? An aspiring actor/model/artist?

Wait so what does that make Kai? A bodybuilder or an artist? (mind bottling) lol

“Aspiring” means to desire to achieve a higher level. He’s been painting the same way for over 15 years. He has no aspirations, other than to paint. He’s an artist.

“Aspiring artist” sounds so… noob-like. Art school students are aspiring artists.

Kai is a bodybuilder AND an artist.

You actually insulted the man and didn’t just “state an opinion”. The clear insult is what people took issue with…you know, if truth about the situation was the goal. Also, many back then, including Lee Haney openly spoke about politics in bodybuilding. That was an issue back then up until the 90’s. This isn’t even a secret.
