Velocity Diet: "Family Man Edition" Review and Notes So Far

What would you be interested in knowing? I’d love to continue the discussion.

Ok. Interesting. So no issues with the different supps counteracting with each other from an absorption standpoint?

Talk about the food. Are you basically eating high protein or is it more nuanced?

Great Results, btw.

Thanks man!

At my most current iteration, I’m on a carnivore kick. When I’m eating solid foods, it’s gonna be an animal of some variety. I’m stealing that from Jamie Lewis’ “apex predator diet”. It started as an experiment, and now I’m appreciating the “challenge” of sticking with that.

Prior to that, though, it was simply low carb, with an emphasis on whole foods and a variety of veggies. Protein is always the focus of my meals, to be sure, but I played with a variety of fat sources as well.

Probably not. The only thing I might need to remove is the psyllium since fiber can absorb other stuff. But if I’m getting 98% of everything consistently that beats being inconsistent trying to divide all this up. But yeah, I may move the fiber into an afternoon shake just in case.

I found my list from another V-Diet log:

I call it the Super Bowl. Basically I have two scoops of Metabolic Drive mixed into a small amount of water so I can eat it with a spoon. To that I add all the powdered supplements that are health-related or goal specific for me, then berries and walnuts.

I figure if I eat that one meal, every day, then pretty much every need I have is taken care of. Currently, my Super Bowl looks like this:

• 2 scoops Metabolic Drive
• Wild blueberries, frozen (keeps blood pressure in check + other health benefits)
• Walnuts (the healthiest nut)
• 1 serving of Superfood (18 veggies and fruits I’d never be able eat in one day)
Pycnogenol or maritime pine bark extract (lots of health benefits, but let’s be honest: it gives you great boners)
• 1 serving sugar-free Metamucil (cholesterol control, appetite control)
• 1 serving collagen (joint health, fewer wrinkles)
• 3-5 grams creatine (brain and heart health + gains, bro)

Believe it or not, it tastes great to me and I look forward to it.

Just to continue the updates, stepped on the scale this morning post workout and got 182.8. So that’s ANOTHER 2.5lbs dropped in a week, and I just keep on eating more and more food. My metabolism is like a blast furnace.

All shakes are 2.5 scoops now: one post training/as breakfast, one 3 hours later mid-morning, and one before bed. I also have kept up my 1 scoop with a raw egg shake in the middle of the night.

Meanwhile, I’ve been going full on carnivore for all my solid meals, which, again I feel I can get away with because of the Superfood and Flameout. Couple of highlights from the week

Dinner last night: a carnivore breakfast taco on the right featuring grassfed sirloin, egg whites, grassfed sour cream and grassfed swiss, with a chicken tenderloin and more steak on the left and more egg whites up top

Carnivore “meatball sub” featuring chicken meatballs, grassfed swiss cheese, egg wrap, with some egg whites and grassfed beef liver on the left. Ended up making a second sub, then 4 more meatballs, and like 6oz of the liver

Double steak and double eggs. Whites and whole eggs up top, grassfed filet mignon on the right and grainfed flat iron on the left

Also, keep in mind, I’m down 2.5lbs after that massive cheat meal I posted. I shared my “cheat meal survival guide” here

And now I have plans to REALLY push the cheat meal next week, on Thurs, with this

In full family man style: my kid is gonna be there to cheer me on.

Finally gained some weight: was 185.3 this morning. I’m getting LEANER as it happens, which is nuts

I’ve been sticking with my previously aforementioned nutritional protocol of all carnivore when not drinking Metabolic Drive shakes. This week, I made up a whole chicken in my Ninja Outdoor grill, and it turned out amazing

So I’ve just been chowing down on it with egg whites for my HSM at night

Some grassfed sour cream on top too, because that stuff rocks.

I DID try my hand at “chicken and chaffles”…it went ok

One weird thing I have noticed this week with the shakes and HSM: despite eating less calories I am not as hungry. Maybe feeding my body more protein is exactly what it needs?

I am pairing the diet with Alpha Male (for the energy boost and to wean off too much caffeine).

That 20 minute wait thing is so huge. You learn the difference between real and fake hunger. So much of eating was just habit for me. Having the protocol and schedule really goes a long way.

Alpha Male is a fantastic product. But my caffeine is definitely high, haha.

This tends to happen to me about week 2 of a diet - once I get through that ravenous period, I adapt and I’m just not as hungry.

I never posted a photo of it before, but here’s a representation of “Metabolic Drive Oatmeal” as part of the family man approach

I actually made this batch with egg whites today vs riced cauliflower, just as an experiment. I liked it, but if you were really trying to “sell it” as oatmeal it’d be helpful to throw in some cinnamon or sugar free syrup.

I made sure to rep the brand on the Family Man front as I took on my challenge

And I did us proud!

And my kid was there to cheer me on, which is what mattered.

And I ABSOLUTELY took on my Indigo-3G leading up to it. And I kept this article in mind

And, funny enough, I’m DOWN 3lbs, back to 182.3, as of this morning.

Gotta try this.

Hell yeah man! I make it stupid simply and just cook the egg white in an microwave egg cooker, then chop it up fine, 2-2.5 scoops of Meatbolic Drive and enough water to turn it into a paste. Creates warmth and texture, and adds a touch of protein the to mix without any extra carbs or fats.

As long as it was a wheat-free bun, it’s okay.

Dude, to say nothing of my first time having “real” peanut butter (which is to say, NON-real peanut butter, aka peanut frosting) in like a decade, haha. That really put me over the moon. But minus eating a plate of onions, it was honestly really yummy.

I used to do something like this with buckwheat, which is actually a seed, so it’s paleo. Maybe? :man_shrugging:

Yep, it is considered paleo in some circles. It’s a “Psuedo-grain”. Quinoa and amaranth slide in under that umbrella too. The more militant paleo crowd doesn’t agree with this assessment, but militant diets are dumb, so… lol

Amaranth is so good. If I had a bigger plait of land I would grow a ton of it.

You can kid of pop it like popcorn even.
