Velocity Diet Begins 6/12

I’m extremely excited to start the Velocity Diet. Prior to the pandemic, I was about 228. Of course, I was walking about 17,000 steps a day, plus lifting weights then. Now I’m 260, but I’ve added more muscle and strength in the last 2+ years than ever before, and finally hit some decent numbers on the Big 3. The downside is hitting 37, and, despite weighing out my food (as often as possible, I DO miss meals of course) and hitting my protein and calorie goals, I’m stuck. And even though the plates are stacking up, and the bar is bending more than ever, my gains aren’t showing the way I’d like. I think the Velocity Diet is the answer.

So here I am, having my first shake, Curcumin and Flameout’s digesting in my gut, as I plan my HSM for later. I’ll upload my day 1 pics soon. Lets do this.

Next, not sure how much I’m even going to post on here. Does anyone else find this website incredibly confusing to use?

Hey give it a go. Logging helps create accountability. It may help you stay the course.

Not really, but I’m sure people on here could help.

Thanks man, maybe I’m confused because I’m just not experienced on it yet

It will just take time. I definitely recommend logging. If you’re like me, you will get hungry a couple days in, and logging may help you get over the hump until that settles down. Plus we’re just all really cool

Hahaha well shit! I’ll be logging frequently then. Thank you

Here’s me on day 1 making a ridiculous face. (Side note, my Hims spray is really thickening my hair, damn.)

Ha! Congrats!
Can it achieve new growth upon my barren landscape, I wonder?

Might as well try! My bald spot was basically zero hair follicles at all, now it’s pretty full

Welp, weighed in a 256.6 this morning. Down 3.5 lbs since yesterday! I know it’s likely water weight and all that, but I can’t even tell you how many times over the last few months I’ve weighed out everything I ate, down to the spinach leaf, and woke up the same weight day in and day out.

Hunger got pretty tough near dinner time, so my HSM of 3 chicken thighs, 200g of sweet potatoes, and a massive salad tasted amazing. That meal ended up being around 850 calories, so I think I could probably go a bit heavier on the chicken next time since I want my overall calorie total to be closer to 2500 for the first week then readjust if my weight loss plateaus.

All in all, great first day. I did have a bit of a headache towards dinner time which felt related to the diet in some way, but I don’t know. I also nailed the cold water pulses even though I typically drink nothing but coffee or water during the day.

Let’s get shredded!

Hang in there! If you can make it to ~5 days, you’ll be golden and feel better

Day 3!! Weighed in at 257 today, so up about a half pound from yesterday, no big deal. I added more volume to my HSM last night, mainly in roasted potatoes. It’s only been a few days but solid food already tastes better than before. I had nice beef stir fry with a huge salad and low calorie dressing. I feel extremely hungry as dinner time rolls around. And my workout wasn’t great, definitely felt weak and fatigue/lack of energy as my workout went on.

I also noticed that an hour or two after my HSM I got intensely hungry. Because I was still under my calorie needs, I had some SkinnyPop and sipped my final shake of the day.

Slept really well, woke up feeling extremely hungry which I had to just deal with because my dog needs his walk bright and early. Had a nice cold brew with my first shake and Circumin + fish oil. Already excited for my dinner later.

All in all I’ve been able to handle the mental demands of the Velocity Diet so far which I can attribute to seeing the scale change so quickly, and again, I understand that the numbers are likely due to water weight changes, but after counting my food and steps and seeing no change for months I can at least feel that I’m heading in the right direction. 25 more days to go

Missed a couple days here. Woke up on day 4 at 256.2!! Wow. While this has certainly been challenging mentally, I don’t find it nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. While I find myself getting particularly hungry closer to dinner and especially after my workouts, I’ve been satiated by delicious dinners.

Day 4 I squatted heavy. I was surprised how fast 275 moved even when I got closer to 10 reps. I was able to get through my workout without any energy problems, but definitely crashed after. For dinner I had a delicious ground bison bolognese with protein pasta and an entire box of mesclun greens and spinach. I was able to make a low calorie balsamic vinaigrette which tasted amazing. I was definitely full after this one, which was about 950 calories total. Ended the day with a total of 325g of protein and 2500 calories, right where I want to be. 2500 calories is definitely pretty tough for me right now, I may up it to 2800 but seeing the scale change and still feeling strong, it’s tough to justify needing more food right now. I think I’m going to stay at 2500 calories a day and only adjust if I feel like complete shit or I struggle with beginner weights.

Day 5 I woke up at 255.9, so I lost another .3 lbs since yesterday, and 4.2 lbs overall. Incredible. I’ve been consistently getting 10,000+ steps a day, plus hitting the gym. Food cravings are manageable but I absolutely cannot look at my instagram For You page without wanting to order 50 wings and French fries. Even though I’m hungry most of the day, I overall feel amazing and I’ve been sleeping like never before. As someone who struggled with severe insomnia 3-4 years ago, I can’t even describe how great it is to fall asleep and STAY asleep until morning. I wonder how much my sleep has been affected by only having one meal of solid food a day. Someone see if NASA knows why this is.

Potatoes are a god send. I’ve been baking these little potatoes called Blushing Belle’s. They bake quickly, I cover them in salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, and spray them with 0 calorie cooking spray. 225 grams of these bad boys is only 137 calories. I pile them onto my plate and eat myself silly. They’re the best. With that, I had 3/4 of a rotisserie chicken and a huge pile of roast zucchini. I have to say, I can’t believe how quickly solid food becomes a delicacy on this diet. I used to have this meal a few nights a week leading up to the VD, and while I always enjoyed it, it tastes like a Michelin star meal when all you’ve had is vanilla and chocolate protein shakes all day.

Now begins a 3 day weekend, and a true test of will here in alcohol soaked New York City. Impossible to go anywhere without seeing restaurant patios, thick with people crushing beer and pizza. Staying off the sauce here is extremely difficult but I’ve done it before and I can do it again. Excited to see what I weigh in at tomorrow. Cheers.
